How do you feed spaghetti?

Do you cut it up? Give a whole chunk?

I'm a little behind on feeding finger foods, so I'm not sure yet what to do with spaghetti/angel hair.

Re: How do you feed spaghetti?

  • I cut it into shorter pieces, maybe 2 or 3 inches long, and then let him go at it. He loved it! It was definitely messy though. I had to strip him to his diaper and rinse him in the sink (giving me my adorable siggy pic).

  • We did spaghetti tonight. I just cut it up into small pieces (no more than an inch),I put it on her tray and let her feed herself. It was really messy but I just stuck her in the tub right after.

We also cut it into shorter pieces.   I usually strip him down to just his diaper to eat on spaghetti night.   Easier to hose him down once he's done.

  • I switched to penne noodles and I cut them up like Cheerios. It was too much work for him to get much spaghetti into his mouth.

  • maybe like 3 inch pieces. I gave her a cut in half strand to see and she just broke it up herself.
  • I just do a rough chop with kitchen scissors. The pieces aren't all uniform in length but DS does just fine with them. He likes to slurp the longer pieces. :)

  • I also use kitchen scissors and just snip it randomly.  I also usually have macaroni in the fridge for her that is more "friendly" for her little fingers like rotini, wagon wheels, or ditalini (her favorite!).

I use our grinder. Grind it up and give it to her in a suction bowl with a spoon. She will do some bits with the spoon from me, take some bits with the spoon by herself and then eats the rest with her hands. I like doing ground because it's a lot easier to pick up than when I cut it in pieces.

  • I would just cut it up, DD loves pasta but I usually give her small shells.  They are much easier to pick up.  I just boil a small pot, it takes a few minutes.
