Epi moms...lower back pain

I was wondering if any of you that had an epidural are experiencing back pain.  This week my lower back has been hurting so bad.  I actually woke up in tears this morning because of it.  I went to the dr. on Friday and she told me it seemed like muscle pain.  Not until this morning did the epi even cross my mind.  So do any of you feel anything now or even before?

Oh, and Happy Mother's Day to you all!!!

Re: Epi moms...lower back pain

  • I didn't have an epi but definitely more low back pain since having Stella.

  • I did, but I don't know if it's from the epi. It could just as easily be from the fact that she was such a low rider and hung out in my pelvis the whole time.
  • No not back pain.  But every once in awhile I did have some numbness and I think it was because they initially put the epi in wrong and had to redo it.  I haven't had any problems with it recently.  My mom thought maybe they damaged some nerves.  I had a spinal injection (c-section) with DS1 and didnt have any problems after the fact.

    Happy mothers day to you.

  • Thank you for writing this! I have been in 24/7 pain (managable) for about 9 months now. I finally made myself to the drs and I got two different shots in my back, one a numbing agent and another a liquid pain reliever. Nothing worked! I've been in tears about it so many times, I just don't know what to do! I've been referred to an orthopedic dr but they still haven't called to set up an appt. I do have a heating pad which helps a bit, and I take Tylenol every day (which I hate doing bc I hate pills). I thought maybe mine was from the epi too, but I'm not sure bc it started 2 months after I had Z. Anyways, I hope it doesn't get worse for you and it just goes away on its own, and that you gets answers soon!

    Happy Mother's Day! :)

  • nothing unusual here.
  • I had one with DS and never noticed issues. I had another with DD and the spot where it was aches occasionally but it is never debilitating. When I wear DD I get a sore lower back but I've always had lower back issues...herniated discs etc.
    This is my AE.

  • My sister in law went all natural and slipped two discs. Has had major issues ever since and he was 2 in February!! Pregnancy, birth and even constantly carrying around a baby can cause such strain. While it can be possible from epi, I wouldn't jump right to that conclusion. I had an epi for both girls - never any problems though. Thank goodness.
