temping question

Ladies who temp...a question!

I know that you are supposed to take your temperature at the same time each day, but I work varied shifts and often wake up a varying times.  Anyone else in the same situation??  Any suggestions?!?

  • Take your temp after your longest stretch of sleep. It needs to be at least 3 hours, preferably a full "night".

Keep in mind that it won't be terribly reliable and you'll need to put most of your faith in CM and OPKs and use your temps as a bonus. Checking cervical position can help you make up for the certainty you're losing by changing up your temp time.

TCOYF has a great section about temping and shift work.

  • I'm in the same boat and just take my temp whenever I wake up after >3 hours of sleep. I've been able to see my temp shift ok.

Me too. I rotate from days to night shifts so my sleep schedule is a hot mess. Take your temp after >3 hrs sleep and you will still see the temp shift. I highly recommend supplementing the data for the chart with OPKs, checking CM, etc. That way if your temp doesn't shift as much or is all over the place, FF will still have that information to go on to give you crosshairs when a clear shift can be detected as well.

    Good luck!
