C-sections

Swollen feet and legs

I had a c section on Friday May 4th due to high BP. I had swollen feet and legs for weeks prior. My dr told me after the c section they'll get worse before they get better. But mine are still pretty bad. How long did it take  for your weakling to go down?

Re: Swollen feet and legs

  • Weakling = swelling. My phone won't let me edit.

  • I wasn't swollen before my cs, but it did take a good 3 or 4 days until my feet and ankles looked normal.

  • My feet/ankles were huge after c/s, I thought my feet would pop. It took about 2 weeks until they were better.

  • My swelling finally went down about 2 weeks after my c-section.

  • Mine weren't swollen before my c/s but afterwards they were gigantic and really uncomfortable.  It took a good 2 weeks to go away.  Once your nightsweats start--your swelling will go away.  It's good times!

  • Mine were very swollen before surgery. They put these inflatable pressure cuffs on my legs which I loved. They felt like a massage. I don't think they were swollen by the time I left the hospital 3 nights later. I remember thinking how boney my ankles looked but they were just back to normal. Any other time I would have still thought they were fat!
  • Oh yeah, and I never got the night sweats. Lucky me.
  • I had a few episodes with leg and feet swelling before my first baby - but it would come and go.  After my c-section it was awful - and I mean awful.  I was swollen for several weeks, I had to wear my houseshoes because I couldn't wear any of my shoes.

My feet didn't go back to normal for at least a month - and I never had high blood pressure and I was very careful with my salt intake and drank lots of water.

This is the one thing I am not looking forward to with this second baby - I don't want to swell up like that again!
