I used to love LOFT, now I hate them

LOFT used to be my go to store, and I've just had it with them.  I don't shop that much anymore, so my clothes get worn a lot more often.  And their clothes do not hold up at all.  Their stuff pills or looks horrible after just a few washes.  I don't think it used to be this bad?  Am i wrong?

  • I agree--the clothes seem much more cheaply made now. It's awful :(

Yeah, the last shirt I bought there was no better quality than Old Navy.  It is disappointing.

  • I've learned to avoid them.

I second everything about pilling/not holding up/getting misshapen, plus everything just seems a little... skimpy?  not slutty skimpy, but like they're trying to trim fabric costs -- the sweaters all seem a bit short and the fabric all seems a bit thin, and things that should be lined aren't.

  • I completely agree. It used to be my go-to work clothing source, but I've disliked the style and quality for over a year now. I don't even look any more.

I used to love them but not any more.  I went to Talbot's for the first time and I was able to find some tops that I like.  Some of the stuff, IMO, is a bit 'old ladyish' but there was enough good stuff to do a little shopping.  Nice prices at the outlets and their membership club gives you 10% off when you sign up.

My older Loft clothes are a much better quality than my newer clothes.

I'm really loving the LOFT this season. Partly b/c I'm a size 2 in their clothes and a 6 anywhere else.

I feel like their casual line has gotten crappier, it pills and fades too quickly. Their nicer side though I've still been happy with. However, I went last weekend to get some work clothes and they literally sold no pants. They had capris, shorts, and skirts. I found a pair of slacks on their clearance rack, but seriously, I was read to buy 3-4 pairs of pants and left with one $10 pair. (I love their pants, they fit me great and I don't need to try them on.)

  • I read that they were changing so they weren't focusing on work clothes, just casual.  I agree that I haven't been able to find a lot in the last few years.  I have stuff from almost ten years that I'm still able to wear.  I am pretty easy on my clothes.

Yeah, the more recent stuff sucks. I bought a sweater that I washed once and it's pilled and threadbare! Super junky. There are still some things I like but I refuse to ever pay full price for anything.

  • It reminds me of County Seat back in the day before they went down.  I worked there in High School.  There stuff was nice, similar to Gap, and then they started having financial issues.  Quality went way down put prices stayed the same except they had crazy sales all the time similar to the 30 percent off ones the loft has been having.  I have not gotten a cardigan from there in a couple of years that has held up. I am done with that place

  • yeah agreed.

I've finally decided to stop cheaping out on clothes and I'm going to start slowly buying higher quality pieces.  If that means buying one pair of well made, wool pants for $200 2x a year, I think I'd rather do that than buy ones that look like crap after 6 months.

(I'll still buy cheapo casual stuff at Target/Kohls, etc. but I'd rather spend $80 or $120 on a blouse or sweater than spend $35 or 40 on one that starts looking like crap after a month)

  • I only buy basic pants from them these days. Their tops, dresses, and skirts are too casual for work.

  • I do love their "vanity sizing" though.  Makes me feel better about myself.

I'm getting on board with how you feel.  I just bought a knit (t-shirt material) shell, and it got a small hole it in the first time I wore it.  (I don't know if it rubbed too much against the top of my jeans or what.)  But the same thing happened with a t-shirt I bought from there last summer.  I don't really like a lot of the styles they have now anyways.  I've been going to The Limited for most of my work clothes.  I think 95% of my work pants from The Limited.
