Concerned: Shaking after waking up?

With all the Mother's Day festivities, Julia barely napped all day. Around 6pm she was so exhausted she fell asleep nursing. I laid her in her crib, unsure if it would be a nap or if she would sleep into the night. After a half an hour, she woke up crying. When I went in there, she was sitting up in her crib and her little arms were shaking. She seemed scared. She didn't seem like herself the rest of the evening. This morning she still seemed fussy and not quite right. I'm hopeful that it was just a one time thing, that she was just out of her normal routine and things will get back to normal soon, but I admit, my momma antenna is up.

I just consulted Dr. Google, which was a huge mistake. Has anyone experienced their LO shaking after waking up?

  • :( Sorry I'm no help...my first thought was maybe she was just cold and had shivers?  Or that she had chills from a fever?

Audra shook constantly with her bladder infection. It is a common symptom. Does your lo have any sort of fever?

Lost Lilah (Audra's twin) at 26 weeks. Cause unknown. Forever in our hearts

Now that you mention it, I do remember thinking that she seemed warm at some point in the evening. She wasn't burning up, and I didn't think to take her temperature.

  • Hayden shakes sometimes when she wakes up. It's almost like she is startled and her body hasn't had time to catch up. She has probably done it a few times with no signs of fever or sickness. Good luck

Thanks! I hope that's all it is and I'm worrying for nothing!

I'm not sure if this is what you mean or not, but Evie is shaky sometimes after she gets up.  Maybe not if I'm holding her, but I've noticed if I put her down right away and she is holding on to the table or whatever, her legs and arms will be a bit shaky at first.  I figure it is just a bit of weakness after she gets up.  Have you ever tried to make a tight fist right after you wake up?  It's hard.  I guess it is just your body getting back into gear.  Hope that made sense.
