Lets talk about yogurt

Anyone giving LO yogurt yet? Do you just buy the plain whole milk yogurt at the store? Ive seen the "blends" that gerber makes but it grosses me out that it is not refrigerated.

We have been buying the gerber kind but I hear the regular kind is fine to use. I will probably finish what we have and buy the regular stuff.

  • Our Pedi recommended Yobaby organic yogurt while DS was on antibiotics. I need to buy him some more, he liked it!

  • Yobaby is available at the regular grocery store.  It's made by Stoneyfield.  However, the baby specific yogurts (even yobaby) are pretty high in sugar.  It's better to buy a gigantic tub of plain, organic, full fat yogurt.  Much cheaper and lower in sugar.  If you want to flavor it, mix in your own fruit or veggie puree or even some oatmeal.  I used to make guacamole for DS using avocado, plain yogurt and a touch of salsa.  He loved it.  Now he doesn't eat anything green, even avocado (or kiwi).  Sigh. Toddlers.

I don't even buy regular fruity yogurt for myself because of all the sugar. The guacamole sounds good.. my DD loves avocado as it is. Will try the regular ol plain stuff. I'm sure it's a lot cheaper anyway.

Yep, you can buy a big tub of plain full fat Stoneyfield organic yogurt near the other yogurt at most grocery stores. We get it at Publix. Your baby's yogurt doesn't have to be organic, but it can be tough to find full fat non-organic yogurt. (Most people looking for yogurt prefer for it to be low-fat. There's a much bigger market for it.)

  • We use the yo-baby brand. Whole milk, plain yogurt and you can get it with sweet potato and apple puree at our local stores. LO LOVES it and has not had any allergy reactions to it.

  • They have full fat greek yogurt at Trader Joe's.  I'm not sure about how many g of sugar it has.  I like TJ's because their dairy is hormone free.  We used that and YoBaby with DD.

  • I bought a container of full fat plain Greek yogurt, so no sugar. And I froze it in little drops. I give DD a few of them every oter day or so. They are cold, so it took her a bit to get used to it. I usually let them warm up a bit first

  • DD loves Yobaby. I got at Giant, where the regular yogurt is in refridg section
