So, how's your bladder?

This is my second vaginal delivery, and I must say, I have absolutely no control over my bladder :( Thank goodness I'm wearing super absorbancy pads because I pee my pants about once a day. Anyone else having trouble with this? Will it get better? What can I do to help it get better faster?

Re: So, how's your bladder?

  • For the first several days, I had practically no control at all.  Within the first week, I could usually hold it, unless I sneezed, or bent the wrong way, or entered the bathroom (seriously, just walking in would do it.)  Now, two months out, I can stop my flow mid-stream, and not pee when I sneeze.  Practice kegels while you pee - it helps tons!

  • I had this problem for about a month after delivery, but I didn't really notice it until my bleeding stopped because it wasn't too bad.  When I noticed it I just wore panty liners and started doing kegels.  Try not to do them a lot when you pee though because I heard that it can cause infection.  I would do sets of them while I breastfed, that way I remembered to do them.  It will get better.  I was worried that I would be stuck with this problem forever, but it was gone by 6 weeks.
