Messed up, don't know what OB will say..

I went for my a/s scan at 17w 4days. OB told me to go around 18 weeks and my husband ended up having to travel and this past weekend was the perfect time to go. During my scan I asked if everything was measuring correctly and the tech said they don't do those scans until 19 weeks and even if i was 19 weeks my OB did not write a/s scan on the order, he only ordered a reg u/s. I was confused because he let me know that this was my last scan. Do you think they will have to give me another one in order to do the a/s?

Because of my insurance, I have to go to the hospital not my OB's office for scans.

    Wait, I'm confused...why would your doctor order a "regular u/s"?  What was it they were looking for?  So they didn't do any measurements at all?  If they didn't, I would think that they are still going to A/S as those are standard.  I just don't see why he would order this u/s that you just had and it wasn't even an A/S?  I would definitely be talking to my OB about this.

     He told me he was ordering my a/s scan, but didn't write it on the paper, so they said they couldn't do one because it wasn't specified. I'm guessing they will just have to do another. Thank you- I'm going to call them today.

    Radiology should have called your doctor when they discover the discrepancy. It sounds like there was some miscommunication. I would call you doctors office and explain. They will probably have to send you back, but you should not have to pay again.

    Your doctor messed up.  They have to be very specific when ordering ultrasounds, because it will determine what shots they need.  A/S also take a little bit longer than your standard pelvic ultrasound.  I would call you doctor and let him/her know now so that you do get it done when it's suppose to be done.

    It sounds like your OB is the one who messed this up. To do the A/S you have to have an ultrasound, so hopefully you can talk to someone so you don't have to pay for their mistake, and get an extra ultrasound out of the deal. :)

    Thanks everyone. I called the OB and they said that they don't ususally have to specify a/s scan if it's after 14 weeks and my insurance is weird... idk. Either way sounds like I'll get another look at the baby out of this which is fine with me!
