DH Aversion?

DD is going through a phase where if I hand her to her dad she acts like I'm handing her over for slaughter.  I think part of the problem is that his contacts have been bothering him so he's wearing glasses.  He's taken them off when she's upset but she won't settle down.  Any suggestions?  He's going to get back to his contacts as soon as he can get his eyes to settle down.  Do you think that's all it is?  I do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to her daily needs.  I told him he should go get her tomorrow morning and give her her bottle (she wakes up STARVING every morning) so that he can be the hero.

Re: DH Aversion?

  • Like Mullen said it might just be a phase and not the glasses. DS will do that still every so often, I believe we are not in the clear for separation anxiety just yet plus since I'm a SAHM and with DH working two jobs is what I believe the reason for it. I make DH play with him and do the whole night time routine on the nights he doesn't work and I'll be cooking or go to the gym. So my only suggestion would be to let them have some time together where your DH has to take care of basic needs, bath, food, diaper, etc

Yeah, DD looks at DH funny when he takes his glass off or when he puts on a baseball cap. Same when I wear my hair down (I usually have it up in a bun so she can't grab it), but thankfully she still seems to recognize us, just thinks we're funny-looking. :-)

  • My LO had always been that way with me and DH. It has been just the last few weeks where she has actually wanted him sometimes and been okay when I hand her off or leave the room when she's with him. I do most everything for her and take her to work with me, so she is so used to being with me, but he has started to play with her more since she has gotten bigger and so I think she's starting to realize he's okay too.

I think most babies go through something like this, so I wouldn't worry. And its possible it is the glasses if she isn't used to seeing people with glasses. IDK. My DH and I both wear glasses and LO isn't bothered when I take them off... I know that when my DH shaves his beard or something she eyes him a little funny, but she seems to get used to it quickly.
