I have to go away for work - I'll be gone for 5 days. Ugh. I'm not looking forward to it.
I have tried to start talking to LO about it, but i'm not sure she is really understanding. I'm going to make a calendar for her also.
I'm on the fence about whether or not to make her a video and skype. What have your experiences been with this? I am afraid LO will become upset after the call/video is done. I may leave it up to DH to decide...
Any other tips to help LO while I'm away?
Re: ? for those who have traveled without LO
My LO is younger than yours, so it may be a little different, but my son loves talking on the phone to me when I'm at work or out of town. He talks on the speaker phone to me and his grandma several times a week, so he's very used to it, and at this age, he recognizes our voices and seems to understand that we're not there but we're talking to him. The longest work trip I've taken so far was only two days, one night, but I did call home and talk to him a while that night, and it seemed to be more of a comfort than anything (for me and him both!)
If your DD isn't accustomed to talking on the phone or skype, maybe you or your husband could call her or skype with her sometime before your trip and see how she reacts?
In my experience, being away for the night is harder on ME than on him. I bet your DD will do just fine. GL, mama!
