when do you find out the sex?

i know that it somewhat varies, but I was wondering if any moms who have had children in the past two years or so remember when they found out the sex of the baby?

i am only 8 weeks, but my mom and cousin are already so excited to plan a gender reveal party.

typically 18-22 weeks. Or so I hear. This is my first, so I don't know from experience.

You don't find out until your anatomy scan. Which is around 20 weeks. With DD I had mine at 19 weeks. It's just around week 20.

Last time I had my anatomy scan/survey at around 20 weeks, so thats when I found out. I think some will do a u/s to find out the sex earlier but my doctor said for the a/s it's best to wait until over 18 weeks.

My OB office does that ultrasound at 20 weeks, which underlying reason is to check development, fluid, and a ton of other measurements, but is also when they can check gender. Some babies do not cooperate with position and luckily mine did and hopefully will this time too!

yea we found out at our anatomy scan at 20 weeks also. i think ive heard some ppl around 18 weeks also and sometimes they will kinda guess a little earlier but i wouldnt plan anything around it Smile

...im pretty anxious to find out too cause thats when we can really begin the best part.....shopping!!!

We found out close to 14w with DS because we were going regularly for u/s at a specialist and he was cooperative. 18-22 is more typical at the anatomy scan.

If you have an NT scan, they won't make a formal guess (bc its way early and often they are wrong) however some techs will say what they *think* it may be. If not,then not until your anatomy scan which is 18-22 weeks-ish.

I found out very early, around 14 weeks with DS. I had regular u/s due to infertility And a prior m/c. My doctor wanted to see if she could determine the gender at, what I thought to be, a regular appointment. We had no idea we would be leaving knowing it was a boy. However, I've been told it is easier to identify boys earlier on.

But, like PP, it is usually the 18-20 week range.

With DS we found out at 18w5d and with this baby we are scheduled right at 19w1d.

Last time I was preggers, I was told I could have found out at 16 weeks, but kept getting bumped due to all my OB's clients going into labor, so I didn't get to find out till 22 weeks. And he was a SHOW OFF!

But week 18 is a norm for finding out the sex. Just depends on if the baby is shy or turns the right way.

With my DS we found out 18 weeks. All of my friends that have had recent babies in the last 2 years found out around 12-14 weeks, and I also have 2 friends pregnant right now that found out then as well. It's early and their doctors definitely say it's not 100%, but none of them have been wrong so far. I asked my dr. at the last appt. about how people seem to be finding out sooner and she did say she'd tell me at our 12 week appt u/s what she thought, but that is with about 70% accuracy she said. It is more sure 18-20 weeks.

I will find out at our level 2 ultrasound. I will find out on July 5th and I will be exactly 18 weeks.

We found out at 13 weeks last time at the NT scan. The tech said typically she wouldn't make a guess unless she was really sure, but she said she was certain we were having a boy. And a boy we had

I'd like to go to the same tech for a NT this time (we have family history of several diagnoses that we'd like extra information to be prepared for) and see if she can give us gender guesses this time as well.

Boys are generally easier to find, as penises are unmistakeable.

However at 14 weeks lack of a penis =/= girl. It could just be a bad angle or hidden by baby's position. In the wrong guesses I've heard about, it was always someone who thought they were having a girl and ended up with a boy in later u/s's.

My OB does the gender scan at 18 weeks. Mine this time will be sometime between 18-19 weeks depending on the hospitals schedule since I am having a level 2 ultrasound done.

I don't find out until July 27th, I'll be 20wks 5 days! Feels like it's so far away! My OB office does not do the scan until 20 wks.

We found out at 18weeks...the NT scan tech said she thought girl but would went on to say it was only a guess. We did have a girl!

We found out at 16 weeks with our twins, but with this baby we already know because we had to do genetic testing.

I am 12w 5d and I found out at my doctors visit today! Usually its hard to tell this early but the ultrasound clearly showed it is a boy!

Lol, every baby that 13 weeks has a penis looking nub. Also, why are you even on the dec 2012 board? Such an odd place and post to bump up.
