C-sections

How long are you sore for?

I had my c-section 5 1/2 weeks ago and I'm still pretty sore. I'm taking motrin all the time still and yesterday I got pretty swollen. I'm sure that I'm being more active than I should be, but I can't just stop my life for a few months and not do anything. I always try to put a pillow or boppy in my lap while holding DS because he likes kicking my incision, but that doesn't seem to help enough.

Re: How long are you sore for?

  • I really think it's different for everyone.
I was still sore doing certain movements around 6 weeks. I was able to take it fairly easy though. It is a big deal and I would try to get as much rest as you can. I know it's hard to stop your life but you're probably just pro-longing the healing process.

  • Ditto the pp - everyone is different.  But obviously taking it slow is key.  I was off regular advil/etc. by 2 weeks, felt pretty much normal by 4 weeks out and was working out again at 6.

  • My DS is 10 days old and I am a little sore but still take my pain meds at least 2 times a day.  I try not to overdo it too but I have another child and want to help my DH with stuff around the house when I can.  I slowly feel myself getting back to normal and hope to be pain free in the next few weeks.

  • I don't remember exactly, but by my 6 week appointment I felt relatively normal and I wasn't in pain any more.
