Today is a gorgeous day. DH has been gone since 9:30am to help out friends with their outdoor playset. It was planned in advance, but I had no clue it was going to take all day...he'll be back at 5:30 (just texted). Tomorrow is raining and we have plans with the ILs. Plus, DH has to work to catch up with hours.
I tried to make the best of the day and take DD out at the park where there where tons of families together having fun. I went to the pool store to get a reading so we can swim later...maybe. I just can't help but feel so alone since all my friends are busy being with their families. I guess there is no point to the post. I need to snap out of it. I am grateful to be a mom and get all the snuggles and cuddles and laughter. I'm just a tired mom who was hoping for a break this weekend...therefore the sigh.
Re: Mother's Day Weekend Sigh
I know where you are coming from. DH is a police officer at a college and commencement was today. He went to work at 11pm last night and worked till 2pm today. He has to be back at 11 tonight. So I was on mama duty all day today. While it was nice to not have him upstairs sleeping all day...I could get things done without worrying about waking him up...not what I envisioned for my 1st mothers day. We are going to brunch tomorrow, so we will certainly celebrate. But he will be exhausted. And I know he got me some gifts. So I can't complain too much. Just wish I could just relax a little bit.
I'm sorry. I spend lots of time alone (and with LO) because of my husband's work schedule. He works so much during the week that most of the weekend he's passed out trying to catch up on sleep. Plus he has to work most holidays so we're alone for those too. It sucks and gets really lonely sometimes.
It's good that you got out though :-)
Thanks, ladies! I'm sorry to hear I'm not the only one dealing with this. I hope everyone has a beautiful day tomorrow. DH just admitted to not getting a chance to even buy a card. He ordered me a necklace from Etsy, but it's still in production. It's the thought that counts, right? Good thing I bought presents for our mothers. I would feel bad showing up to lunch with the ILs empty handed. MIL is getting an Apple TV.
