I wasn't as nervous about my first because everything happened so quickly (emergency) and I was drugged up heavily. This one has been planned since week 30 so I had more time to get anxious and nervous and it felt like a FTM experience to me. All I did was clean and organize to help keep my mind off of being nervous and anxious. The night before my c/s, DH and I went out to eat and enjoyed each others company for the evening. We both didn't sleep well but it was more out of excitement.
DD1 was delivered vaginally and DD2 was a c-section. There were 3 main things that helped me stay calm during DD2's delivery. One is that I was mentally/emotionally prepared that a c-section might be necessary due to some know medical complications I had. DD2 was breech until a week before delivery (@35 weeks). We tried an induction but she didn't handle it well and her heart rate was not cooperating, so I had an unplanned/urgent (not emergency) c-section. Once it was decided the other two things that kept me calm were prayer and a lot of faith in my OB's skill and judgement. If I'd had more warning(i.e. a scheduled c-section), I would have used some deep breathing techniques and listened to music.
Are you going to need a c-section or just wanting to plan for all scenarios?
Sadly I am terrified. My RCS is in a week. My Dr is helpings with some accommodations but I am still very scared. I have PTSD from my first one Most people handle te surgery just fine. I just struggle with extreme anxiety and claustrophobia.
