Okay, I know we've talked about this a zillion times, but what are somethings I can do to make sure my GBS is negative. I really really don't want a hep lock. I'm doing the test next week. Is it too late to start?

    Sorry there is nothing you can do to make your GBS negative, you either are or youre not.

    You can also ask your OB about alternatives after the birth. I've heard that they can test the baby to see if they were exposed, or maybe administer antibiotics to the baby. I'm not sure if I would choose to inject my baby instead of myself, but you could find out the options and then decide.

    FWIW I had a heplock with my first because he was early and I hadn't been tested yet. It was my least favorite thing during early labor, I didn't notice it at all during transition, it was annoying while I was changing positions to push and then right after he was born I wanted it out immediately. The nurse tried to convince me to keep it in just in case I was bleeding etc but I told her that she was welcome to put one back in if it became necessary.
