Long story short: I was just told about...hmm...*looking at clock*...about 30 minutes ago my position was going to be eliminated. I knew there was a possibility for there's been a ton of layoffs within the past few months. But when you get the news, you're like, 'Heh...it happened to me finally.' I'm not going to front: I'm pretty sad about it...
But....
The good news is I have until June 30th, which is about 7 weeks and plenty of time to go job-search and get more debt paid off and get my ducks in order.
The great news is while I did like my job and sometimes loved it, I did get tired of it. I did finally get to use my degree (Political Science) and work in a field that I love (legal) but after I fulfilled that, I was kinda longing for something more, you know?
The really awesome news: I can focus more on my writing and if I fully dedicate myself, I can finally do what I love full-time, all the time.
And it gets better: this won't put a damper on any TTC plans. I asked DH what his thoughts were and he agreed we need to go full-steam ahead. There's no guarantee if I'll get a job within the next few weeks or few months or few years. Why wait?
So yes...while it sucks I won't be at the same job come July 1st, I say the future is looking mighty awesome. ![]()

PS degrees rock! Originally, I wanted to go into politics because I was passionate about them. I still am to a degree but definitely not as much anymore. Too mean from all sides!
I worked on polictical campaigns right out of college then transitioned into working as a staffer for elected officials. It could be greuling work with long hours and the pay was awful, but for the most part I loved it. I still work in public policy (private sector/non-profit side) and volunteer on campaigns, though.

Thank you again, ladies!
Having a postive outlook does help. I do feel more at peace knowing I wasn't fired for something I did but rather the economy.
I love your posts, but especially this one! Cheering you on and wishing you all the happiness on your new journey!!!
