My husband got a vasectomy in July. I deeply regret it now because I want another baby so freaking bad. Normally I would just convince him to get it reversed but our insurance doesn't cover reversals. I'm bummed and don't know what I'm going to do.

I think all the "appreciation"days are over the top and insincere. It's teacher appreciation week and they basically forced the kids to bring in treats for us all week.
Don't get me wrong, I like the goodies, even if my waistline doesn't, but it's too much. And it had to be organized by class advisors, so really it is an example of kids following directions more than appreciating us. At least that's how it played out here.
I think it was nice when a few under appreciated professions had days, but I think it has spread too far.
I am reading Fifty Shades of Grey and skip through the sex scenes, it is too over the top!
you stole mine! The sex scenes are OK (I haven't got to what I assume are the most hardcore parts yet) but really the writing is mind numbingly boring and the main character is pretty annoying. I hear it gets better in the second and third books...we'll see.

The writing is awful and the sex scenes are probably the best part even with the awful use of adjectives. I do like the banter they have via emails though. It's cute. I just started book two and so far I'm bored.

OMG. The writing. People complained about The Hunger Games writing. It didn't bother me though. Yes, it was an easy read, but it wasn't awful by any means.
This. Is different. I mean does she really have to keep saying "round" instead of "around" or "envisage" instead of "envisions" or any other synonym out there. Sometimes, it feels like she just pick a word out of a thesaurus and just stopped there. And don't get me started on her "inner goddess" and over use of the word unbidden, among others.

I have to admit, I graze through alot of the sex scenes too.....they just sorta bore me and when they are happening every chapter, it gets old.
I think many parents who complain of picky eaters created those picky eaters by not exposing them to an array of flavors at an early age. I think alot of the time it is parents that are picky themselves, so they don't cook a huge variety of things and the kids learn to fear new tastes.

I agree! I also think it's because they don't make them eat what they've cooked and just get them chicken nuggets or make them a pbj sandwich.

I have to agree with this!! My husband's parents made him a picky eater and I told him that he will not do the same to our kids.

I am a lifelong picky eater slowly growing out it (sad that I'm 39 and this is something I still have to work on). I am doing my best to make sure that Stella tries everything. DH gave me a hard time (jokingly) about trying to feed her peas...saying I was a hypocrite because I won't eat them (that is one food that I will never like) but I want her to try everything and make up her own mind whether she likes something.

I agree! My husband is super picky, and wholeheartedly agrees as well. He gets so excited to introduce LO to new foods and watching her love food and get excited about veggies and stuff. He knows his pickiness is a direct result of his eating habits as a child.

I'm not very far in, but it seems to me that she's trying too hard to use big words. Sometimes there is something to be said for simplicity. I will admit that I'm intrigued enough to keep reading.

Other than steak, there is not much that I don't eat and I have always been that way. Hubby is not picky at all either. We always give C what we are having to try and we have been exposing her to many different flavors and textures since we started giving her solids at 6 months. We offer different options over and over again.
She eats like a bird. I just posted about my concerns over her eating earlier this week. She hates meat, any meat. She puts it in her mouth and spits it back out. It's like she wants to like it - she will pick up piece after piece and put it in her mouth only to spit each one out. She is super picky about veggies too.
I just don't think it is that cut and dry.
I don't think she's talking about 10 month olds (or I'm not anyway!) They're still learning how to eat, so they haven't really had time to have taste preferences and stuff.
I also think kids may go through phases of being picky eaters and it's more about asserting control than actually not liking stuff. But if all an older child will eat is peanut butter and jelly, it's likely it's because they aren't being exposed to and encouraged to try other things. It's unlikely they really actually dislike all other food!

This. But I am also saying that what you feed your 10 month old, or attempt to anyways, has a direct correlation with having to give them only pb&j as an older kid. If you are only giving them Gerbers peaches and jarred "chicken dinner" (gag), every night, then odds are they are not going to jump at the chance to eat hummus or sushi when they are 5 years old.
Also, please note that I said many parents. Clearly, I don't believe this is the case in every single household that has a picky eater.
My UO is that I don't like cheese. It's disgusting. I also don't like yogurt. Equally disgusting. I only like fruit in it's purest form (no strawberry pie, ice cream, etc) and I put salt on grapefruit, not sugar.

Really? What is your aversion to cheese? I had a coworker many years ago that was absolutely grossed out by it...I think it linked back to maybe getting sick off something and cheese was somehow associated and that was the root of her aversion.

Wow you don't like cheese? That is really interesting.
People like to make fun of me cause I hate bacon (any bacon, turkey, pork, vegetarian doesn't matter) and toasted bread.

@tulipblossom: There is something seriously wrong with you not liking bacon. There's this one restaurant up here that has tempura fried bacon served with a spicy maple soy sauce. It's literally one of the best things I've eaten in my entire life.
@Sunidaze: I used to like cheese as a kid, apparently, but cannot handle it now. I don't get sick from it, it just grosses me out. That and yogurt are basically "bad" milk and I'm not a fan.

Whaaaat?!? OMG I love cheese. Evelyn spit out some cheese the other day and I texted DH to say that I wasn't sure she was really our child.
We can disagree on sleep issues and still be friends, but hating cheese? That's a dealbreaker.

I've heard of some people not liking cheese. Me, I love it. LOVE.
Since we're talking about food, I will make my UO about food. I don't like white potatoes. Baked, mashed with tons of butter, etc, scalloped with cheese...whatever, I hate them all. I try them regularly because it's a really inconvenient aversion so I keep hoping I'll eventually like them, but nope. I will eat french fries as long as they are crispy/seasoned and aren't too potato-y. I know I'm a freak for this. I have yet to meet a single person who has this same aversion.

I did the same thing! I didn't think that book was sexy AT ALL. Did you know it was originally a fanfic written about Bella and Edward from Twilight?
From what I understand...isn't that the only reason to read?
