Can you give me an idea what a cycle with injectables is like?
Not sure it would be a consideration for us (I'm terrified of multiples) but I'm curious what is involved. How many visits with the RE does it involve, how many days of shots, when do you start, etc.? Also, for those of you paying OOP, how much do the injects typically cost per cycle?
When the world says, "Give up,"
Hope whispers, "Try it one more time."

I did injects for 11 or 12 days. I had *almost* enough for another month and I'm thinking the drugs were about 1000.00 give or take some.
Lots of monitoring. I went in close to every day but, my follies were very slow in growing.
For the first four or five months multiples are damn near impossible, especially if you have an older toddler. I seriously have blacked those first months out. After a year multiples are HARD but, now it seems to be falling into place-almost two years into it. ; )
GL!
My injectible cycle cost $2k OOP. I did the lowest dose of follistim for not that many days, triggered with ovidrel and the TI. My diagnosis was unexplained and the first cycle of inj worked for us.
I didn't have any s/e on follistim which was nice because I was an evil, crazy person on clomid. I was never able to administer the shots my self though. I totally thought I could do it, but just could never bring myself to stick the needle in my stomach. Fortunately DH had no problem doing it (and he's the queezy one of us!)
This time my RE is recommending I either do a lower dose of follisitm (50 iu) or try Letrozole. I haven't made up my mind yet. Letrozole would certainly be cheaper.
I think this inject cyle is going to cost us about $2000? Let's see, $800 or so for the meds, $131 out of pocket for each monitoring appt (will have 4 or 5) and a couple hundred for the actual IUI. Oh and a hundred or so for the trigger shot.
As for the schedule:
CD3: Baseline US. Start daily injections (probably 10 days of injections.)
CD7:Monitoring US and bloodwork.
CD10:Monitoring US. Maybe bloodwork? It's tomorrow.
I'm guessing based on previous cycles that they'll also bring me in on CD13 for another US and to give me the trigger shot and the IUI will be on Thursday or Friday. They might make me come in on CD12 too.
