Need help with naps..

So I think the time has come that DS is ready to give up his nap.  Bedtime has been a struggle for about a month now.  We have gone back and forth on whether or not he is actually ready to drop the nap.  He is sometimes so tired on the weekends during "naptime."  I was also hoping to get through the pregnancy before dropping the nap (because I sometimes need the nap too!)  but I guess if we are going to drop the nap the summer might be a good time to do it and we can get through the process before the baby is born.

If you dropped the nap how did you go about it?  Do you still do quiet time?  Did your LO go to bed earlier or at the same time?  How long did the transition take?

Re: Need help with naps..

  • I haven't done it yet, but my sister chose to keep "quiet time" after lunch. Kids go to their room(s) and have to play quietly by themselves for an hour. With the younger one, she would go read a story or two before leaving (he's 4 now). The older one (7) gets some craft supplies or drawing stuff and takes care of herself.

We're just doing the 2 naps to 1 nap transition (mostly forced because he's off kilter at daycare and won't do 2 naps there). Change is rough.
