Poop stains!!!! Help

My DD has been having at least 2 blowouts a day for the past 5 days. How do I get the stains out? Or at least out enough where she could maybe wear the stuff at least for around the house. Her onesies are so stained that I don't even want her wearing any of them anymore. Any tips?

TIA!

Re: Poop stains!!!! Help

  • I always spray them with shout right away and let them soak for a couple of days. If it's really bad, I will fill a bucket up with hot water and out a little detergent in it to made it bubbly. Leave the clothes soak overnight and then throw them in the wash. They should come out clean. My biggest item of clothing that gets stained are socks! I don't hold both ankles when I change DS and he always puts his heal in the diaper I just took off. Maybe I should hold them both, huh?

Thanks! I did soak the clothes but only for a couple hours so I guess that wasn't enough. Can I use oxyclean or anything like that? I"m so paranoid about using stuff on DDs clothes. Oh yeah my DD is a wiggle worm. I have to hold her feet and then I have to fold the dirty diaper right away, otherwise forget it! haha

  • Buy some Goop. I slather the poop stains in Goop, then just wash them like normal.

If you are not familiar with Goop, it is one of the products that mechanics might use to get grease off of their hands. I can find it at WalMart and at the auto parts store. It takes out pretty much any stain, even blood and red wine.

ETA: I just read that you are paranoid about using stuff on LOs clothes. I have tried Baby Oxyclean on poop stains, but it seems to leave a yellow spot where the poop was. My LO has not reacted to the clothes washed in Goop, but maybe with a second run through the washer or an extra rinse you would feel ok with using it. I promise that it works wonders!

  • My friend soaks in oxyclean and it works well for her. Someone gave me Legacy of Clean prewash stain treatment. It is a plant based enzyme cleaner. It worked well back when DD used to poop :)

  • This is my wash routine for my cloth diapers.  It works great to get poop out of the diapers, and it may work for you.

I start out with a cold prerinse, then I do a hot wash cold rinse.  I do an extra cold rinse afterwards and dry normally.  If there's bad stains, hanging them in the sun for a few hours does the trick.  I use All free and clear, but I'd imagine whatever detergent you use would do fine.

We had some onesies like that!  Forget all of the stain removers and detergent, and place them in direct sunlight for an afternoon.  Took EVERYTHING right out for us!

Get Dreft laundry stain remover. It takes out everything. If it's a stain that has dried you may need to soak in cold water and rub the stain remover in after you spray it on. I do this with fresh stains too. This stuff is awesome. You can get it at the grocery store in the detergent/stain remover aisle.

THIS!  The sun is the BEST stain remover, especially BF poop.  I'm sure our great grandmothers are rolling in their graves that we have all these stain removers on the market when all you usually need is sunshine!

It takes no time at all.  It's seriously amazing.

  • Ive honestly have been having luck with just using Ajax dish soap and a scrubby if I catch it right away I have no stains. If I dont catch it right away and it goes all day then I am not as lucky...

Yes, exactly this. A few hours in the sun and the stains will be completely gone. We stick our cloth diapers out there occasionally (which are obviously VERY stained) and they come out completely white.
