What to do....re induction

Well today I went to the dr. for yet another  weekly BPP and of course it's the first time baby didn't pass so I had to do the NST....in the end during the internal dr said i'm at 1cm and -3 station which is the same as a week ago. She brought up induction and I've been planning a med free hypnobirth and I'm afraid that would make things difficult. So as of now I'll see her again on Monday or Tuesday but then I'll have to let her know a date for induction....she doesn't let patients go past 41 weeks. I'm totally at a loss of what to do. I'm not totally miserable at this point....aaah I wish I didn't have to decide!

Re: What to do....re induction

  • my dr doesn't want people going past 41 weeks either. i have a scheduled induction in case LO decides to be late.

I put my trust in my dr... she said spontaneous labor is best, but after 40 weeks, there are more risks to NOT being induced than to be induced.  So, I'm just going with what she said... she listed a pretty long list of reasons about why to not go past 41 weeks.

  • What to do is up to you, not your doctor. You hired them to advise you, but it is your body, your baby, your decision.

If you want to avoid a confrontation, maybe try some natural induction methods? Acupuncture is supposed to work well. Castor oil sometimes does, though my midwives now mentioned if you mix it with a couple other ingredients (which I wish I could remember!) you can take less castor oil and it has a higher success rate and is more pleasant. Have an orgy with your SO.

    Sorry you're feeling stuck!

  • My doctor said today that they will plan an induction at my 40 week appointment for sometime that week or the beginning of the 41st week and not later.

  • My midwives don't even think about induction until after your 41 week appointment when they do a NST.  And if everythings good, they let you go to 42.
