For people who have had membranes stripped...

At my appointment my doctor mentioned she could strip my membranes at 39 weeks if I were interested.  I'm pretty sure I want to get to 40 weeks before trying anything at all.  But I'm curious how effective this is at starting labor.  My coworker said she went into labor the day of the stripping each time with her two kids. And this made me wonder...  What's your experience?

    Had mine stripped at 39 week appt.  2cm dilated   50% effaced   -1station

    it's 48 hours later and nothing but brown mucusy discharge and light menstral cramping.  It didn't work for me Sad

    Had mine stripped and nada... However I did loose my mucus plug the next day.

    I think it is different for everyone.

    I had mine stripped for DD#2 at 12:30 pm.. she was born at 10:08 pm the same day.

    It worked for me but I was 40 weeks 2 days when I had it done.

    Contractions started that night and lasted 48 hours before she was born.

    Had this done Monday at 39.5 weeks, was 2 cm, 50% effaced, +2 station.  It didn't hurt at the time but that evening was very sore and crampy/  It's Thursday now and nothing has changed :(

    I am having mine done tuesday due to high BP and being a big boy lol so I will for sure let yall know if it does anything... ! Based on appt. today I am 2.5 cm dilated and very soft and favorable so we will see...

    WIth DS I had them stripped at 3:30 pm and my water broke at 3:08 am. I was already 3 cm and 60% effaced when they did it. By the time I got to the hospital after my water broke I was 4 cm and 75% effaced.

    Had mine stripped yesterday at about 10am EST and we're coming up on 24 hours and nothing yet.  Seems like I'm actually having LESS cramping/contractions than before the stripping!  They say it's a 24-48 hour turnaround usually if it's going to work, so we shall see.  I will keep you posted.  Oh, I also had them stripped (without my consent) at 37 weeks, and I lost my mucous plug after that stripping.  But obviously am still pregnant so my body definitely wasn't ready for labor yet.
