2nd pregnancy and strep b?

I hadn't made the official announcement yet, but I'm pregnant again! I am just about 6 1/2 weeks along and my doctor just called and said she found the strep b virus in my urine. She put me on antibiotics. I was not diagnosed with this with my daughter. Is that normal? For those of you who had is with your pregnany, should I expect anything different for my delivery this time? TIA!

    I was strep b + both times.   I had iv antibiotics when I was in labor.

    I was strep b + but I didn't think they tested me for that until about 30 weeks.  You will be tested again closer to your due date to make sure it hasn't come back.  If so, you will have to be given iv antibiotics, I think it was at least 4 hours before you deliver and then if I remember right, ever 4 hours until you deliver.  Since I was induced and didn't deliver for 2 days I got a lot of it!  It was really no big deal but sometimes I could feel it going into my arm and it hurt.  The nurse was great and tried to "warm it up" before giving it to me so it wouldn't hurt but if she forgot I just asked her to turn it down a bit so it was going into the iv slower and that helped a ton.

    First of all, congratulations!!!  I was strep b positive with Em, I just had antibiotics during labor.  Really, my doctor just said to tell doctor when you call to say you are headed to the hospital and to remind the nurses at the hospital so they can give you the antibiotics.

    in addition to the antibiotics you're taking now, you can also do things to try to keep yourself strep b-free for the remainder of your pregnancy.  eating lots of probiotic foods, garlic, etc.

    I was originally strep b positive. My doula put me on probiotics, garlic supplements and echinecea. They retested two weeks later, negative. Tested again a week after that, still negative.

    It was really important to be without an IV or anitbiotics during labor since I was planning (and had) a med-free birth. It done just so I could say "Hey, I had a med-free birth!", I just didn't want to have to sit still during labor.
