I don't have time to frequent the boards over there (only because now I don't work and I SAH, I used to lurk ALL the time). I just checked it out real quick to see WTF you were talking about. Um, IDK waht they are doing with that whole format thing, but if they bring it to the bump boards, I'll be pretty annoyed. Is that why they left? The format?

Chrissy I am fairly sure they are bringing it to the bump. Don't quote me on that. The change is why everyone left. TN gods are probably weeping as the pro boards already have over 3500 posts and it was started today or late yesterday.

Yes, the format change. It was completely unusable for a period of time, taking minutes to load new pages, posts disappearing. It was over 24 hours and still wasn't working well with no info from Nest people. Many people jumped ship. Some are planning on coming back when things get straightened out, some are not.

Rumor has it it's coming to the bump next week ish. 12-24 has already had a mass exodus to an off board. My work computer doesn't work with the new format and I can't post. So if I come around next to never once it switches it's not because I don't love you guys!!

Many of the changes are born out of neccessity. With the huge number of Trolls and Solicitation posts on the vast number of boards, The Nest Gods wanted to give the Moderators some exapanded abilities.

Especially being able to ban via ISP address vs email. Granted you can get around that, but most trolls arent going to go to those lenghts to be pissy.

Does change suck...sure. But does it suck having people Troll and Solicite and then deal with the backlash...you betcha.

And since the local boards have been using this design for a while, its not like its unknown or unuasable.

Give it time.

I actually don't like the format of the new board!

And many of the people who "left" are actually posters that I didn't like very much in the first place - the angry, bitter people who are always cursing during their posts.

I also heard it is coming to the bump next week. I was thinking of asking the group if we wanted to set up a private FB group as an alternate place to go. I don't mind change, but from what I have been experiencing over on the nest boards, this is not a good change.

The local boards, who have had the new format for a while, have died... I am afraid that is what is going to happen here, and I would hate for our board to die too!!

but it is unusable for a lot Of people. It's why many local boards have died. I can't post on my local board from my phone and I don't nest from anywhere else. It logs me out every other post, posts disappear, the text box is impossibly small, posts are arranged in whacked out orders that make no sense. No one likes it. Personally I will take a troll on a user friendly board that I can ignore or block over this crap. And really, giving mods the ability to ban IP address sounds like a horrible idea.

pro boards is better than FB, at least for privacy reasons. There are too many weirdos out there. I don't want them knowing all my personal deets. If it goes that way, I am out.

Good point- privacy is already one of my top concerns and I already try not to post too many identifying details about my life, so pro boards could def be better.

No, there is not one yet. I would guess that a BF board would not be formed over there until after the bump goes to the new format and if we decide to move over.

I am a lurker on TIP and Starting Over, so I have been lurking on there a little.

A stinky thing about moving would be we would reduce the opportunities for new members to find us. Which is no small thing IMO, as a new member I for one am so happy I found this board!
