Dh says there is really no reason to spend alot of money on ds's 1st birthday because he won't remember it anyways. I think there will only be about 15-20 people total so maybe around 500.00 or so.
We are having 2 parties since we will be in New Hampshire for her birthday. So, one with the inlaws and one here with more people, my family and friends. But, since we are having 2, it is basically double to budget. We have not put a number on it yet though. Probably $300 for both? ANd most of that will be food, I am making the decorations and invitations myself (check out my pinterest boards...!)

$500ish. We're celebrating with family and friends with kids. We're having a pool party catered by a "taco man." Believe it or not, it's way cheaper than even a BBQ.
We are having about 25 people, mostly family. We are only having 2 couples who are our friends, who both have a child.
I havent set a budget yet, but I'm thinking of aprox $300 its going to cost, for food, beverages, cake, decorations and miscelaneous stuff. I always over-estimate things, so I'm thinking it wont be that much money ( I hope not).
Ours is family and close friends. I sent out about 20 or so invites, but of course that means about 40 or so people, though I do not expect them all to come (4th of July weekend and all).
We are doing a pool party at my parents' house, so the location is free. I spent about 70 on decorations and supplies, and then 20 on the invites, and am about to order the favors which will cost another 20 or so. Then, the rest of the money will be spent on food and drink, which will probably be another couple hundred (between food, snacks, alcohol, regular beverages, cakes, etc).
I"ve only made a tentative guest list, and it was up to 42 people, and that didn't include some family that my mom told me I had to invite (which would add at least 12 people).
We are doing it at our house.
Just snacky foods, no big meal.
I'll make cupcakes and her smash cake. :-)
DH wants to put in a patio for the party since our yard is not suitable for parties. That will not be part of the budget. HA! Can you imagine?? The quote we got today for pavers was $1750!
I do want to hire a photographer. Is that over the top? Maybe.

Wow. This is overwhelming! I just thought about having some family over and making a cake and a little cupcake for LO. We could go to dinner after or something, I don't know... There's no way we could afford to feed the amount of people we could invite. (Like if my mom gets a hold of it and invites everyone she knows, as she likes to do. Grrr...). Right now, it'd just be our immediate family at like 2pm, with cake and snacks.
I wish I could do more in terms of a party, but I am having my new baby literally days before probably (if I go late, which I did before so we'll see). I just hope I'm not still in the hospital for it!
We will only have DH's parents and brother around, so all I'm doing it baking a giant cupcake (I bought the special pan years ago with this specific purpose in mind) for her to eat/smash and I'll make another cake for the rest of us to eat. Maybe make her favorite food for lunch or dinner and decorate the kitchen a little for the sake of pictures. We'll see how much I get accomplished with a newborn in tow.
If we were in New York around all of our family I would probably be having just our parents, siblings, nieces and nephews (about 35 people in all). I'd probably do a backyard BBQ and spend $300 or so.
I did teach Saoirse how to blow out air so she can (hopefully) blow out a candle though! I can't wait to see if she does it right.
We'll be at the beach with DH's family for her birthday.
I'm sure we'll do something while we are there, but I am hoping to do a bigger party with family and friends when we get back (like a BBQ). That's about the extent I have thought about it though. My guess is we'll spend maybe $300.
We would like to spend no more than $500, which includes his presents. It will be I guess average sized, we are inviting about 40 people, mostly family, and probably about 30 will show if I had to guess.

I guess I'm in the minority. It's just going to be us and the grandparents and maybe a few others? We'll spend less than $100 including food, decor, drink and gifts.

Ours will be super small too, we don't have many family even close to here, and all our friends here are work friends, and I'd feel bad making them feel like they were obliged to come. However, I will probably spend over $100 because I've spent that much just on food for family before.... I feel like groceries are so expensive now. And we are just planning to BBQ, we'll likely only have like 10-15 people here.
No budget really. We are trying for as low key as possible, while still have a GTG with close friends and family. So really it is just going to be a BBQ that people can stop by whenever they feel like it. At this point I don't think I'll even do a cake because I am so sick of DH's family trying to shove icing in my kid's mouth at every b-day party in the last 3 months and I don't feel like monitoring what they try to feed him when I'm not looking (or staring right at them, SIL literally reached across DH to try and stick a fingerful of icing into DS's mouth. WTF)
Anyway...probably a total of 30 adults and 8 or so kids/babies. No theme, but I'll decorate with balloons.
We will have a moonbounce though, because one of our neighbors bought one and is happy to lend it out for the day!

For his first birthday we're having a big bash. After this year, it will just be immediate family on his actual birthday. We're budgeting around $300-$500.

This sounds like ours too. 16 people counted with only the ILs/SILs and my parents and sisters. And maybe another 15 in aunts/uncles/cousins.. So 30ish people. I'm very intrigued to see how much I'll spend lol
We invited pretty much all friends and family, however its right around 4th of July so we will see who can make it (sent out invites this week!). For food we are planning on either doing pizza or BBQ to keep costs down. I'll definitely get decorations but won't go overboard, and we know a great cake place thats not too expensive (went with them for our wedding cake!). It is a pool party at a relatives house!
Re: 1st bday party ...
I'm inviting people with small kids and immediate family, ordering pizza and getting them all a kiddy pool. $150 tops.
