June 2011 Moms

I just got schooled by a soon to be mom...

She was posting on N&BG that the Cuddle Cove is ony for supervised naps.  Ooops LO slept in that thing every single minute of his sleeping life for the first 2 months or so.

She pointed out it is a suffication risk.. oops I gues I did not realize that in my sleep deprived state.

Bad mom moment.  I can't believe I did that.  I shudder to think what could have happend.  I am so glad I found out b/c I was planning to do the same thing with #2.

I really think that's more of a legality thing. They say it so that if something happens, and you weren't watching the kid, then you couldn't sue them. Up until they can roll around and whatnot, I see no harm in having your LO in there unsupervised. Martin slept in his bassinet version of the cuddle cove for the first month of his life.

Yeah but the sides aren't breathable on a lot of cosleepers, yet those are considered safe. I mean really, you can't protect them from everything! lol

And now you sound like my DH.  But I can try right.... being a mom is hard.  I feel like you have to think about every possible thing that may happen even if the possibility is so minute.

Yeah.  We used a bassinet similar to this and it is obviously made for naps and STTN but isn't "breathable":

When everyone on the board was talking about how bumpers are so bad on cribs and they mentioned they were going to use a bassinet in the beginning it really seemed like a contradiction if their bassinet was like this!

I plan on using this bassinet again.  I'm one of those who uses regular bumpers on my crib though.  :)
