Trouble TTC

why haven't i gotten my period post bcp?

and i KNOW it's not a 'real' period, so don't start!  ;)

i took my last bcp saturday, how could i not have started yet? i have been super crampy for 2 days like it's just about to start, but nothing. i always started within 2-3 days max when on it before.

anyway my baseline is tomorrow for IVF and they said it shouldnt be a problem, pending my bloodwork being ok .....BUT i am still worried i am going to get some weirdo curveball from this.

  • I don't know.  I always got mine exactly three days after my last pill.  I have heard that sometimes when you're just going on birth control things can get out of whack.  But your blood work should be able to tell you when it will come roughly.  Good luck tomorrow!  What's your timeline looking like?

  • I think when I was doing IVF I don't know that I even got a period after the BCP....I remember saying that it wasn't necessary, so I wouldn't worry about it.

When I had my beta the nurse called and said my progesterone was 7 and that meant I was going to get my period soon.  And it did.  So maybe it does?

I know I have LPD so that means my p4 is low...but I've had a reading of 7 at 7dpo.  Yes my period came five days later....but that means in my cycle the entire time my P4 reading would never have been higher.  According to you, that means that anytime they drew my blood that whole cycle- they would have said my period would come in a few days based on every single day of my cycle.   Which, clearly, isn't the case.

But CV - PP is correct that said a withdraw bleed isn't usually necessarily needed to start.  If you've been suppressed with BCP, your body will be ready for a new cycle.
