Today was our 20w appt and Baby B's right kidney (I think it was) looked a little larger than "normal". The peri gave us the spiel about doing an amnio but I am very reluctant to do that. We did an NT scan and I got "super" results, my husband is neg for CF, the spina bifida test came back great so I'm not really worried in that aspect. I'm worried I guess because Baby B isn't perfect like I'd wanted him to be. I am worried for him, I suppose. I want him not to have to face surgery when he is born, so please tell me if you had this issue with your babies and if it went away or if it is really something I should worry about.
And tell me whether you did further testing for chromosome issues too please.
Everything else looked great, they are still boys (ha ha) and were moving around like squirming puppies so that was fun to see.
thank you for appeasing the neurotic gal.
Re: XP: slightly enlarged kidney, anyone experience this?
DD had a enlarged kidney and the OB told me they were sending me to the peri because it was a marker for Down Syndrome. Over time it slowly worked it's way back into the normal range and she was fine at 35weeks so the peri released me. No issues since and the pedi thinks theya re both fine. We never had any additional testing done other than the AFP at 16 weeks. My blood came back with lower risk than my age for Down's.
The peri told me it was nothing to worry about and if it didn;t fall into the normal range by birth then she may need some meds but nothing major and these things usually work out before birth. Try not to worry too much about it.
