Backyard pools/water tables?

I'm loving that it's warm enough to play outside, and we got Lexi a water table and a cheapy plastic pool. We play in them some after school, so for about an hour or so in the afternoons. My conundrum though...should I empty it every day? I've been emptying it and putting it back on our back patio to dry,  but I feel like I'm wasting a lot of water that way. But I'm afraid we're all going to get West Nile virus or something if I leave it out all day/night.

What are yall doing?

Re: Backyard pools/water tables?

  • MH and I just disagreed about this last night. I say empty and let dry each day (and I personally wanted the pool to come inside). He said it wasn't necessary to all of the above. So, today there was a little water left in her pool from yesterday (I lost the disagreement) and at lunch I saw 2 birds bathing in it (I am NOT kidding)!! I'm not okay with that, so I washed it and now it's drying in our garage. So, I guess I would say 'no' to leaving it outside with water to grow things or be a bird bath, lol. I texted MH the same thing. ;)

  • I always dump it.   I loathe mosquitos and I don't want to create any more breeding grounds for them than there are naturally. :)
