Toddlers: 24 Months+

Potty Training...

DD1 has been running around the house pretty much naked since Monday.  She was all about potty training until it came time to actually have to pee on the potty.  We finally got over that hurdle at the end of day 2 and at the end of day 3 she finally "got" releasing her pee on command.  So proud.  Now the problem:  She wants to pee every. single. time. she has the slightest urge.  We're rushing to the potty 4-5 times in a 30 min timeframe.

Is this just the newness of knowing she can control it?  Will that part wear off?  We're still somewhat housebound because she still hasn't pooped (since Monday!) and I'm waiting on that to happen.  When we go, she definitely pees a little, but it's not much at all...maybe a teaspoon or two.  Diapers were less trouble than this...ha!  (We're using a little potty if that makes more sense.  I'm having to empty the potty every few minutes!)

Re: Potty Training...

  • That's ok in my books.  Part of the learning process is learning that you don't have to pee every time you feel the urge.  It won't go on forever.  Be glad she's doing it on the potty!

Yep, it's a phase. My DD is doing the same sort of thing. She esp. likes to tell us she has to tinkle right before bed, great stalling tactic! It's new and fun and they like having "control". I'm okay with it for now, it's already starting to wear off.

PS I remember you from the tri boards way back with our DD1s! Good to see a familiar face from way back when.

I remember you, too!!  Glad I'm not alone in emptying the potty a gazillion times.  ;)
