TTC after 35

What to do?

I worked Tuesday and last night. Yesterday, I came home from my 12 hour shift, exhausted from having worked 12 hours on 5 hours' sleep (I blame Grey's Anatomy on my Netflix Instant Queue)... and promptly couldn't fall asleep.

Finally, at about 12:30 pm (having been awake for 19 hours), I fell asleep until about 4:30/5:15 pm. Then I worked last night-- a shift from Hell with two unstable patients. It is now 2:40 pm. I still have yet to sleep. Which, under normal circumstances, would be fine. But today was a negative OPK after 2 positive OPKs.

I need to temp. But how do I temp if I haven't slept? I don't have to work again until possibly next Tuesday, so at this point, it makes sense for me just to stay up until 10 pm or so and then go to bed.

But that means I don't have a BB temp to chart. On the day that I probably ovulated.

What do I do?

Re: What to do?

  • Um, make up a favorable temp?  I dunno.  Honestly, I'd just resume temping as soon as it's reasonable to do so.  I do hope that you got some sleep though.
  • Loading the player...
  • Nope! I'm still awake.

The next time I'll most likely have to temp will be tomorrow morning-- meaning a very crucial day for temping will have been lost. During my first cycle post-HSG and post Clomid start.

  • I would not worry about one temp. You are looking for an overall pattern.  If your temp is up tomorrow, your O date could be off by one day.  Don't stress too much about it.

  • Agreed don't stress about it too much, you'll see your shift if you've o'd, sometimes it can even take a day or two until you see the shift so it's not an exact science it's about the overall pattern.
