Question regarding baby clothes at the hospital

This is probably ridiculously stupid, but I can't figure it out. A lot of people talk about a special outfit for when baby goes home. But are you also supposed to have an outfit for baby's hospital pictures? Or do you get the pictures done the day you leave so you only have one special outfit?

Baby BOY is due May 23, 2014!

Re: Question regarding baby clothes at the hospital

  • I honestly dont remember if they did Ems hospital picryres the last day or not, but the photographer did take a minute to set up, which gives you time to dress the baby in a cute outfit.

  • oh!  I just remembered, after the photographer did pics, I did a ton with my camera.  Free, same  set up and honestly as good as or better than theirs.   Ours does a pink piece of paper under the baby in the bassinet, nothing fancy....  So make sure you take some too

On this topic, do you need clothes for baby in general at the hospital?  Or does the hospital provide onesies or sleepers?

I'm curious to know this as well.

  • I don't think the hospital provides clothes, but I honestly don't remember!  We had DD in a diaper and swaddled in a blanket pretty much the whole time.  It just seems like a lot of effort to put on a cute outfit at that point.  As for the hospital pictures outfit, my opinion is diaper only or with a blanket is the cutest!  They are so brand new, and they don't need to get all dolled up.  So I think we'll bring a cute baby blanket and just use that for pictures.

  • Our hospital provided several kimono tops... plus diapers and the blanket to swaddle in and he was all set.

I will not be doing the hospital photos this time, as they were "meh".  I got the feeling ours was not a "real" photographer (the camera was mounted above a special bassinet and she just focused and clicked) and I take much better photos with my D5000 anyway.  Those suckers are expensive for what you get!!

I'll have to find out how many side snapping shirts my hospital will provide.  I was planning on using theirs until we headed home.  I don't think my hospital does photos.  I've never seen them around when rounding on the newborns.  I think we'll stick with our own cameras since I've rarely seen those look good anyway...kind of like our school photos.  LOL!  I don't think I'll put her in anything fancy, just maybe a cute onesie and hat.

I took my own sleepers for my daughter but used the onsies the hospital had and I'll do that again this time around.  It's a matter of personal decision.
