Rhogam (spelling?) for 2nd pregnancy

Hi!

I had to have the Rhogam (spelling?) with my first pregnancy.  When do I need to get it for this pregnancy?

  • I did too, probably around the same time I would think.

  • I just realized my siggy isn't updated.  I'm about 5 weeks along.

  • If I remember correctly, I received the shot around week 24 with my second (and then again after his birth). Your doc will (obviously) be able to tell you at your first appt., though. Big Smile

  • I think at 28 weeks again, same as last time, and then again after baby is born if he/she is Rh+

I also have to have it. It's somewhere around the 24th week and then again when you deliver.

  • My doctor gives it at 28 weeks, when baby is delivered if he or she is positive, and with any and all bleeding episodes throughout pregnancy.

  • You don't necessarily get the Rhogma shot after delivery unless your baby's blood is positive. I've never had it after I delivered, but that's only because my boys were B- and A-

  • Yes, you will need Rhogam every pregnancy. Basically what it does if prevents antibodies that could possibly harm future pregnancies, so although shots suck, it's defiantly a good thing.
