To HSG or not HSG this cycle

I called on cycle day 4 to schedule my HSG, but apparently my RE only does them on Tuesdays and they couldn't fit me into the schedule for this week. Now they want to do it on cycle day 11, which would be Monday so they can get me in before I trigger.

I was ok with doing it this cycle, until I came down with a pretty bad cold two days ago. I feel totally worn out and like crap. I'm sure by the time my IUI rolls around I'll feel better, but I'm feeling iffy about doing the HSG on my last cycle ever of trying IUI.

I know some say it can help with conception, but I feel like it might stress out my body, plus I'll need to take doxycyline prior to it and I never do good w/ antibiotics and did I mention I have the cold from hell? It seems kind of stupid to be doing it now after 2 IUI's.

What would you do?

I would do the HSG. If you have a blocked tube then the IUI would not work. You would be wasting money if you did the IUI, it did not work, and then you found out that you had a blocked tube. Some RE's will not do IUIs for that reason until the HSG is done.

I would do the hsg also. I just did mine last cycle on day 11 and I did get pg. I don't know if it helped for sure but I think it did. Especially since this is your last IUI I would do it just to give that extra that could bring you a bfp. I was fine during and after mine so I don't think you need to worry about stress on the body. I know it is more uncomfortable for alot of people but that is mostly just during the procedure which is only a few minutes. Good luck to you!

Thanks, unless my cold takes a turn and get's even worse I'll move forward with it. They said if I start to surge on my own they'll cancel the HSG, but since they hasn't happened so far, I don't expect it to this time.

I guess I'm just tired of everything in general right now, but we have to do what we have to do.

Petra- I had mentioned in a previous post, started doing IUI's fairly quickly after my d&c and my RE didn't feel it was a good idea to put me through another procedure. I probably could have pushed it at the time, but emotionally I think he was correct that it would have been somewhat traumatizing. I was pretty much done with everyone poking around in there at that point.

Hope you're feeling better It'll be beautiful one day and miserable the next here so my body doesn't know if it wants to be sick or not lol

I just called to get my doc to schedule mine today. It's day 8 of my cycle, so it won't be til next month, but I have to get it scheduled so I can start paying the bill. Since we don't have insurance I have to pay half up front or else they won't do it. I hate our medical system!! grrrrr...
