Decreased Movement Sucks

So, after being really active my whole pregnancy, Alien really toned down the movement yesterday. I couldn't get him to move at all. Pusjing, prodding, shaking, jumping up and down...nothing worked. Just when I was starting to panic and pull out the Doppler for the first time in MONTHS, he gave a thump. One. I waited and there weren't any more. But, I had felt it, and I knew he was still in there. Laid down for bed and I got about 10 minutes of lazy movement out of him. Today, he's a little more active, but still only about 50% what he normall does. And they're slow rolls vs his usually stretches and punches. Oh, and no hiccups since Tuesday! It's a little disconcerting.

I'm going to being it up to my OB today at my 38w appt. And, for the rest f my pregnancy, I won't complain about how active he is or how much it hurts! At least then, I know he's still ok in there.

Re: Decreased Movement Sucks

  • This LO did that a few weeks ago to me and the Dr. ended up sending me to L&D for a NST and once they put the belt on me the LO just kept kicking the belt it was funny.

  • Sounds like our babies are putting us through the same thing.  LO has been incredibly active since I first started feeling him at 15 weeks.  Now he has really started to slow down, but I know it's because he is taking up every single inch of me and really has no other place to go.  My OB said this is completely normal and a sign that the end is near.  No worries!!

  • I just reread that. Full of typos, bad autocorrects, and missed punctuation. I hate my phone.

I'm sorry -- I know that's scary. And you're right -- as uncomfortable as it all is, it is reassuring. I'm sure everything is fine..he is probably getting a little cramped in there. And the good thing is that you're full term! Good luck at your appt!!

  • Same here.  DD was SUPER active up until 3 or 4 days ago.  Now, I still feel her every few hours, but her movement is nowhere near what it was a week ago.  I, too, am going to ask my Dr. tomorrow.  I know it's normal, but I just want to make sure.  The only thing I've noticed that gets her rompin' around in there again are Skittles...soo...just eat some Skittles, lol. Stick out tongue
  • Sorry, I really have to know:  is Alien the actual name or is this a nickname until baby comes?  Good luck with everything!
  • Ugh this happened to me yesterday, I woke up and realized I couldn't remember feeling baby since the day before at lunch. Basically did all the same things you did and eventually got the one thud. Guess thats what I get for complaining that his movements hurt.

Gah!  This is me exactly!  Then I realized you & I are only a few days apart, so that makes sense!

The other night my medium sized dog (26lbs) was trying to inform me he was ready to get off the couch & go potty, and he put his front paws and some weight on my belly in a somewhat fast movement.  I was all like "I hope he didn't hurt the baby!"  Of course, the baby was fine, as it's not like this huge heavy force crushed me.  But it did take longer than I liked for baby to give me movement!

I noticed this last week too.  And she still barely moves this week.  But on the u/s she was moving and I couldn't feel her.   They said she is just out of room and her movements are away from my stomach now.  It does make me worry though.
