Is anyone drinking diet soda?? I always believed it isn't good for you in the first place b/c of the things in it but what about when your pregnant?? I like it b/c of the carbonation and I get tired of water. Any opinons or get any advice from your dr. I didn't think to ask but i'm wondering now. Thanks!!
Re: Diet soda
FWIW artificial sweeteners are linked to cancer and birth defects.
If you like carbonation just not plain water try adding juices to your crabonated water, or try basil and cucumber, etc...
This is only POSSIBLY true in EXTREME cases. As it is true with EVERY kind of food and ingestible or breathable or absorbable substance in the world.
It often contains artificial sweeteners as well.
Ok and you might be, what, the researchers here? It is a well-known fact that basically everything artificial is not as good for you as the real thing. Artificial sweeteners included. If you choose to expose your very young fetus to the risks associated that is up to you.

This is exactly what I was told by a nutritionist for my last pg when I had gestational diabetes. I drink them now too but not as much and with the diabetes I drank diet drinks.

I can tell you as an RD that research has proven both Aspartame and Splenda as safe for pregnant women. Myself personally I did not have any during the 1st tri, but occasionally have a diet soda now occasionally. I also find regular sodas to be too sweet/sugary and they only make me thirstier secondary to same.
You should avoid Saccharin, however, and all products containing it.
