Natural Birth

I can't get Bradley instructors to return my emails/calls!

My husband and I want to do the Bradley method classes and I have put out emails or phone calls to 6 providers in my area about a month ago.  Not a single person has returned my calls/emails!

Now what?  I have no other way to get a hold of them.  I can keep trying to contact others in my area, but what gives!?

Anyone in NoVA who can recommend a Bradley method instructor who will actually return my calls?  I'm so annoyed!

They are on a cruise with the central TX instructors. Return date TBD.

    Wait.  Whut?

I'm not sure if you are serious (I highly doubt that all of the NoVA Bradley method instructors went on a cruise for over a month), pulling my leg, or confused about my original post.

I think she is commiserating that no one is responding to her calls either. HTH. Sorry you are having a hard time. I have found that a lot of instructors, doulas, etc have websites. Then they take vacations or breaks or sabbaticals and don't put it on their site and choose to ignore all contact. It is frustrating.

I had a hard time, too. You'd wonder that it's their livelihood! Also, the Bradley classes are a lot of class time, and I really wished I liked my instructor more. So, if you're getting a bad sense now about lack of communication don't just ignore it. 12 weeks of sitting on someone's living room floor for 2 hours when it's past your pregnancy bedtime really add up ...
  • My guess is that you are just a bit too early for them to know when they'll be having sessions for your due period (yeah, yeah,--I know you are at abou that time, I'm just trying to be optimistic). Also, it never hurts to re-contact folks. You may have just had a string of bad contact luck. Have you looked at the websites of some of the folks to see what sessions are available?

Here is my former Bradley instructor (and friend). See what she says: https://namastedoulas.com/. Also, call Nova Natural Birth Center and see what they know about classes coming up. They have flyers in their office, but I can't think of who the instructors are that is listed on them.

  • Thank you.  I completely missed the commiseration (pregnancy brain?) :)

I'm definitely in the right time frame because everything I have seen recommended that for an early october/late september birth would be to start classes in mid-late June.

I see the midwife at my OB's office in two weeks, so I guess I may see what she recommends.

    Much appreciated!

  • Hi There!

I am a Bradley teacher in DC. I just started a class, you have missed my first two, but I hold them on Sat mornings @11am and you could jump in tomorrow if you wanted to. I will be having another class starting at the end of July, but that would be cutting it close for a late sept/early oct birth. My class is $325. If you are interested (I am  not sure where in NoVA you are located) please feel free to send me an email @ gentle.birth13@gmail.com. If this is not a good fit for you that is fine too, but I wanted to let you know that I had space and if you could join us tomorrow we would love to have you!

     Thanks,

    Nicole Bruno
