  • I had a 5 day supply percocet and prescription strength tylenol. I had to go to my ob's office to get my staples taken out and when I did she asked about my pain. When I told her it was still pretty high, she gave me another 10 days of percocet. I didn't need that many but I was grateful for them when I did need them. If you're in pain, tell your doctor.

  • I was given some percocets which I only took at night. I didn't like feeling loopy. Otherwise I alternated Tylenol and Advil every three hours for a couple of weeks and gradually cut back as the pain lessened.

  • I got about 10 days "supply" of Norco, and probably about a month's worth of Motrin.  I only ended up using about half of the Norco, and haven't used up the first fill of Motrin yet.

  • I got prescription strength ibuprofen and 30 Tylenol #3's.  At my follow up 2 days after discharge (5 days pp) the nurse shamed me for still taking the Tylenol with codeine.

  • I got 2 weeks of percocet and was told to just buy OTC motrin and take a higher dose.

  • I got 30 oxy (5 mg each), and I was directed to take as needed. The first few days I took one every 4-6 hours, and was off of them altogether by day 5 or 6. The rest of the time I took Tylenol and Ibuprofen. I was never in an ounce of pain though, from either c-section. I took them more as precautionary, I was afraid of ending up in a ton of pain.

  • I got percocet but that was only while I was in the hospital as I didn't want to be on it any longer than that. They also gave me Gas meds and Motrin but I also stopped all that before I left the hospital. I only took Tylenol (regular OTC Tylenol) once I got out.

They would have given me more meds, but I hate taking meds in general so I was determined to just deal with the pain.

  • I still have a whole bottle of percoset left. I got a Motrin script with 2 refills, and a Perc script that I had written 2x because my incision opened up 2x.  My OB gives out drugs like candy though.

  • I was prescribed percoset but I don't remember how many was prescribed as I didn't need to take any pain meds pp.
  • I think I'm in the minority, but I actually needed the pain meds and OTC wasn't cutting it for me.  I guess I have a low pain tolerance.  I was sent home with 30 percocets with the dosage of 1-2 every 4 hrs rpn.  I needed 2 so that only took me through to 7 days pp.  I called for more and the doc gave me hydrocodone, I think another 30.  I ended up only needing it for 2 more days so still have most of it left.

  • I was sent home w/ a new prescription for both motrin and percs. Both had one refill as well. I took the percs for a couple of days after I got home and the motrin a few days longer. I still have most of the bottle left of each.

  • I had naproxen and tylenol in the hospital, and ibuprofen and tylenol once I got home after 3 days. I didn't feel like I needed anything more.

With my first c/s I took Percocet for a week.  It turned out it gave me hives (they took a while to appear), so for my second c/s I just alternated ibuprofen and tylenol for about a week.  I think that made my second recovery harder, though; I would totally have taken Percocet again if I could have.

  • First off - you are not a wussy! Everyone's bodies react differently to the recovery/pain. I've seen people on harder stuff for vaginal deliveries than what some of the ladies took for c-section recoveries.

I believe norco was what they gave me in the hospital and I found out fast that was doing nothing for the pain. By day 2 I had them switch me to something stronger. They gave me percocets. For those next few days I was taking both percocets and 800mg IBuprofen religiously. I'm not sure how many I had for my script though - 30 maybe?.

  • I did hydrocodone. And then I could motrin if I wanted. When we got home I used the I think it was like 7-10 supply I just used it when I needed it and I actually asked for more and he gave a lower dose. I think I did too much in the beginning and should have rested more. I'm an rn at the hospital I delivered at and the next day I had walked all around after my c section.  I'm not good with pain either. I was pretty sore for a while.
  • I got a prescription for percocet and motrin. I didn't take either after being discharged. Over the counter pain meds were all I used.
  • I am an OB nurse and I can assure you that you are not "wuss".  Pain tolerance is different in each patient.  Also pain meds work differently with each patient.  While motrin might work just fine for some, others may need T3, percocet, Narco.  You can't compare your pain to another because it is all different.  You should have asked your doc to change meds if they weren't working.
  • I had Motrin and some other pain med.  I hate Percocet, so I know it wasn't that but can't recall what it was.  I only took the other med 3 times total, so I guess I had a relatively easy time in terms of pain (knock on wood).

  • With my 1st I got tons of percacet. I have a new Dr and he only gives tylonel with Codeine which does nothing for me. I requested percacet and he says he can give me some but he makes me feel like I am being unreasonable. I imagine he will give me like one weeks worth, and then I will be screwed. I have a low pain tolerance.
