Where do you stash it? My son just dunked a $200 remote while I was in the bathroom on our first day without the kitchen baby gates.
I feel bad for the dogs but they can't really get drinks or food until LO takes a nap or is in bed for the night.

I just plop it up on the counter for a bit, or she will try to drink it herself or wash up in it. Its funny. Same with the dog food. What about putting it in a laundry room or something, and just keep him out of it?
BTW, I remember your incredible story and a few PM's we exchanged forever ago about IC. Glad to see you around!
I guess I could put 1 bowl in our bathroom (1 dog hangs in the master bedroom all day, the other with us in the living areas). The goal is to get rid of the gates... I wish there was a solution where I'm not playing musical bowls all the time.
Our dogs are self-feeders which REALLY works for us.

Back then your encouragement and info was priceless, I was beyond upset and in total "woe is me" mode. I wish you the best in TTC!
We keep ours in the kitchen. During the day when we aren't home, I keep the bowl filled. During the weekends/evenings we keep it empty until one of the dogs goes to the bowl and "asks" for water (touch the bowl with their paw)
We had to start keeping the bowl empty because Claire likes to sit in it. My kid is weird.

The main one is in the kitchen where he sometimes does get into it but no remotes yet, eek! Our dog also has one of those gerbil bottles (but much larger size meant for dogs) on her crate in our bedroom. She goes in there if needed.
We've never put the dog bowl up, from day 1 we've been teaching him 'no touch' with it. I still have to correct him, but the instances are getting fewer and fewer. I think the novelty of a bowl of water on the ground is wearing off.
If for whatever reason he was always in the bowl, I would be tempted to just leave it up and just have her water bucket outside be her main bowl. She's out there most of the time when we're home (by her choice, not ours), so she'd have plenty of access to water, except for the two 4 hour stretches during the day when we're at work. SO goes home for lunch and lets her out each day so she would have a chance to get a drink then.
We have our dog's bowls where they have always been. DS went through a phase where he would splash in the water, but we would try to tell him no and redirect his attention. After a couple of weeks, DS lost interest in the dog's bowls.

We taught DS to leave it alone and he does. He will go over to it and before he touches it he will look back at us to see if it is ok. We reinforce that he should leave it alone and he does.
Dog water, dog food, and cat food is all on the floor in the kitchen with additional water dishes outside.
Other than when DD accidentally fell into it, we haven't had too much of an issue. She'll even tell me, "Mama, watch out for Betsy's water!" when I walk by.
If I need to leave her alone for even a minute, I put up a gate to separate her from the dogs (and the dogs' water).
Ours has been left on the floor in the kitchen since day one. Ladybug liked playing in it but I would pull her away and redirect while telling her it isnt hers. Now she leaves it alone for the most part. Same with dog food. If I am not going to be near, we put the gate up since I dont want her in the kitchen if I am not right there anyway.

this.
The nanny had to hide it from her kid though, so we put it up when he was over. he was constantly dumping it.
It's on the floor in the kitchen and DD gets into it if we don't catch her in time but she just dips her fingers in and sucks off the water. That doesn't bother me, and she hasn't put anything important in there yet.

beta @ 5w0d = 12,026! u/s 4/22/14 @ 8w1d it's twins!
It's pretty important that dogs have free access to water.
We treated it as a discipline issue, and though it was tedious to fix, is pretty much taken care of by now.
