A family member comes to you and says that a co-worker's teenage daughter is going to give birth any day now. Baby's dad has run off and has no interest in the child, and is willing to relinquish all legal rights. Teenage mom wants to go to college, and isn't interested in parenting. They would like to know if you want to adopt. They want to place the child at birth. Would you do it?[Poll]
Re: CPW - Adoption
in a heartbeat
Yes! As fast as anything. I don't care if my kids are bio or not, as long as they're mine in the ways that matter. And, I wish I could experience a healthy, relaxed pregnancy, but even if I am ever PGAL, that dream is over for me. Naivete has no place in my TTCAL brain, so, unequivocally yes.

lol sorry but this is making me laugh
I seem to be a minority, but I really want my own biological kids.
I have not been exposed to adoption much, and I feel that I may feel like I missed something if I never had my own biological kids.

We plan on having one biological child, and adopting another.
I don't care what order they come in!
We lost our first (EDD 07/23/12) after finding out at 12 weeks there was no longer a heartbeat. Our rainbow was born 05/22/13 and was worth all we went through.
“So can you understand? Why I want a daughter while I’m still young? I wanna hold her hand and show her some beauty before all this damage is done. But if it’s too much to ask, it’s too much to ask … Then send me a son.” – Arcade Fire
I was also adopted as an infant so I definitely have a soft spot for adoption. I still want to biologically have children, but if someone offered me a baby right now, I would absolutely consider it.

I know two different people who were adopted this way. One was a classmate of mine growing up. His bio mother was fresh out of high school, and his adoptive mother was one of bio mom's former teachers. She was never able to conceive. It worked out beautifully. The other person is still young (I think he's 4 or 5), and was adopted when his bio mom's dad (bio grandpa I guess?) told adoptive dad at work that his daughter was about to give birth. Adoptive mom & dad had a child, but were dealing with many years of secondary IF. That situation seemed to work out well also. It's the scenario on which I based the CPW question.
I also volunteer for an organization that does pro bono work for fost-adopt cases, and it's amazing how many people do fost-adopt here in CA. It's definitely something we'll be doing in the future. LA County has a lot of kids in foster care though, and the majority are eligible for adoption (plus tons of infants and newborns), so it's probably not as easy in other parts of the country.

I would be on the phone with my attorney and getting my ducks in a row so fast your head would spin.
DH's dad and DH's two sisters were adopted so it's always been on our hearts to continue the family tradition.
