Birth Plan for Heather & Dominic
We are very excited about a naturalbirth. We understand that giving birth can have unavoidable risks and, should acomplication arise, we understand that all of our requests may not be possible. We look forward to working with you to help us meet our goals.
In striving for a natural, un-medicatedand intervention-free birth, we request the following:
- Time to labor
- As much privacy as possible
- Freedom to move around
- Positive encouragement at all times
- Limited vaginal exams
- That the baby be placed directly onHeather?s stomach/chest and that, as long as the baby is doing fine, any testsor procedures be put off for the first hour or two
- That the cord not be clamped for cutuntil it has stopped pulsing
Unless medically necessary to protect thehealth or life of Heather or the baby, we also request that the following beavoided.
- The use of induction dugs before, duringor after the birth (even for the placenta)
- The use of episiotomy, forceps or suction
Re: Our Birth Plan
Looks great! Nice and brief!
You might have already established this with your provider, but if not it might be good to document the type of monitoring you would prefer (intermittent vs. continuous).
I would also think about how you feel about directed vs. undirected pushing.
And I would spell out "No pitocin after delivery unless it is required." or something more clear than talking about induction drugs.

OOOOOO YES! Thank you!!! I knew I was forgetting something...
Thank you. We want our LO to get all of the blood as possible rather than just cutting the cord right away and loosing it all.
We are ok with all of the newborn procedures. Thank you for pointing it out just in case i missed it...
