In for a big baby

So I had a feeling that I would be having a big baby since I was a big baby and my husband and I are both tall people. But reality just hit me, we just had our last US and with 3 1/2 weeks to go the baby is measuring at about 7 1/2 pounds already and according to the doctor is very well developed and ready to make its appearance. However I am not dilated and the baby looks very comfy.

Re: In for a big baby

  • Join the club.  I'm in the business of making big babies. #1 was 9lb 40z, #2 was 8lb 6oz and this one is in line to be around 9 -9 1/2 based on our last BPP.  Baby was measuring 7lbs at 34w5d.  I'm not surprised as I didn't have GD my last two pregnancies and do this time, so I really expected around a 9 pounder.  You'll do great!

  • I'm in for a big baby too. Had my growth scan last night and baby is measuring 6lbs 15oz (so basically 7lbs) with about 3 1/2 weeks to go! They expect him to gain another 1/4 lb each week.

He's going to be a big boy! My u/s tech also said his head is very low and in the position. Getting close now!!

  • *hands you your Big Baby membership card* :)  More chubby cheeks to kiss I say.  They told me yesterday that LO was measuring 7lbs 10oz.  DS was 10.

Wow, you are going to have a big baby! I'm afraid I will too, but my doctor hasn't estimated her size yet. I guess we will find out!

  • If it makes you feel any better, my husband wasn't a big baby, and he is 6 foot 5 now.  They told me my daughter was 8 lbs at your stage of pregnancy, and that she would be well over 9 lbs, maybe 10.  She was 8 lbs, 8 oz.  those ulstrasounds are often wrong by a pound!!

    good luck!!!

  • Us, too! We had an u/s at 35wks and our little girl was estimated at 6lbs-6oz. They told us she is at the very top of the "normal" range. DH was over 9lbs when he was born, and I was 8lbs, so I'm fully expecting a big chubby-cheeked baby.  Best wishes for you and your LO!
