Snort. The authors of this article would be shocked to discover that my kid, who sleeps in our bed under a duvet, sits in a Bumbo, gets changed on a dresser top with no sides, and rides in a sling, is still alive.
This is definitely interesting. And not to make light of it, because every death is a tragedy, but 13 deaths from one product in 13 years is NOT that dangerous.

I also laughed. We use a dropside crib, bumpers, blankets, changing table with 3 sides, not every piece of furniture is secured to the wall - in fact only a couple bookshelves that have to be because of their design are attached to the wall, carriers (although I do use soft structured ones, but even those they kind of side-eyed), unfastened harnesses in some stuff - she never was fastened into her swing and most often isn't in the stroller because she is sitting in her carseat while in the stroller, or laying down flat where she doesn't need it, and humidifiers that we don't remove from the room when they aren't in use. Shockingly our children are still alive - and thriving! Our oldest daughter knows she can't play with the humidifier, she knows she can't climb on furniture and we are always careful with other stuff as well.
I find this article very humorous and un-informative!

And seriously, sling carriers?!
This! And considering how many zillions of heated discussions about crib bumpers I have seen on The Bump 27 deaths in 20 years seems like a very small number.
Re: Article on baby gear safety
Good find. We use breathable bumpers though. DD kept getting her legs stuck in between the slats of her crib.

I know, Right?
Fear mongering for new parents.
