2nd Trimester

How about I pour you a big glass of Shut the hell up?

Freaking friend. Someone was commenting on weight gain during pregnancy and I said how I was reading in WTE this morning "If you haven't gained any weight thus far, keep watching what you're eating but consider increasing your calorie intake and increasing your good fats" blah blah blah.

Yeah whatever. I'll gain weight. it's fine.

Her reponse was to look me up and down and say "You know, my sister only gained 2 lbs during her whole pregnancy. And her baby is fine. I'm just sayin'."

Um. Screw you. I'm going to gain weight because I'm pregnant. And I'm FINE with it. Now please shove it, kthx

  • WTH is up with the pregnancy police lately? Biitches!

  • Her sister must have been Massively obese or... she's just flat out lying... 2lbs?!?! not possible.  Have fun gaining weight!
  • 2 lbs the entire pg? Haha!
  • That's why I don't discuss it with anyone IRL except my husband. He freaked out that I didn't gain weight this week (um, honey, I gained 2 lbs last week, that's PLENTY!).

I know someone who barely gained a lb when they were pg and it was because they suffered from horrendous MS thru their entire pregnancy. Maybe that was her sister's issue?

Let's all hope we can have a tasty, non-miserable pregnancy filled with our own snarky remarks and lots of telling ppl to shove it! Horray.?

  • 2 pound weight gain sounds MUCH less healthy for baby then overgaining.  What a jackass.

  • Thing is, I wasn't even talking to her about it. I was talking to my good friend (who commented back that I'll be plenty fine to gain as much weigh as I need for the good of the baby and I'll still be beautiful. I love her)

This chick hasn't ever had kids. Please stop telling me how to grow my own

  • she sounds like an idiot- how can you have a healthy baby and only gain 2lbs?  thats one small baby... maybe i'm missunderstaning the post?

  • I could only afford to gain 2lbs. unfortunatly I gained more then that. I guess Im going to be a heffer.

Please note the sarcasim involved in my quote.

That means the mother would have had to loose quite a bit of weight during the pregnancy to make up for the baby loss.

So while mother loses 20 lbs, techcnically, she only gains 2 because it evens out with the baby, placenta, water, blood weight, etc

  • 2 pounds - WTF - lets just say she wasn't telling the truth.  Maybe she was commenting on how much weight she THINKS she gained you know outside of all the added stuff and of course the weight of the baby.  So lets say average person gains a total of 30 lbs - she would have gained 32 pounds.
  • then her sister must have been overweight to begin with. that is not normal.  18 -25 is the norm for an average pregnancy and average person

  • gained 2 lbs during whole pregnancy?  How is that even possible?!  How much did the baby weigh?
  • 2lbs??? She must be ones of those Pregorexic girls who just eats oats and berries n crap. That's just wrong!!! Poor kid!
  • Ridiculous. I was going to say though, I'd willingly take a glass of shut up if it were wine flavored.

  • psshht.  I've never met someone who gained less than 25 lbs.  2 lbs?  Is that even possible?
  • How the heck did that girl only gain 2 lbs?  The baby weighs at least6. Being pregnant is an excuse to eat what you want without getting crappy looks and comments. People need to mind their business when it comes to weight anyway.  My mom always said there are 2 questions you NEVER ask a lady.  1: How old are you and 2: How much do you weigh.

ditto this, you should have told her that her sister must have started out a fatass to begin with because someone of a normal weight would have to gain a lot more than that to remain healthy while pregnant.

    Cheers! Beer

  • I love when people tell me how much I should or should not gain. OR when they give me ugly looks as I shove tacos in my mouth. Its even better when they have no children. Honestly, my weight gain/ lack of gaining is between me, my baby, my doctor, and when I'm in a good mood- my husband.

Everyone else can bite me... or just wait long enough and I'm sure I'll get hungry enough to bite them....

  • 2 pounds?!? Was she 500 pounds to begin with? Come on. I would have smacked that biznatch. You are practically perfect in every way.
  • HAHA - I love when people who have never been pregnant before give pregnancy advice. She will get her's one day. Oh yes, she will get her's . . .
