Co Sleeper necessary for safety?

i miss my bed! im uncomfortable leaving baby alone so ive been sleeping on a futone that is very uncomfy. I would like to co sleep...but do i need to buy a co sleeper to do it safely? I have a PnP but I like it downstairs...are there any tricks for safety?

Re: Co Sleeper necessary for safety?

  • What kind of co-sleeping are you talking about? Room sharing? A bassinet would work just fine with that. If you're talking about bed sharing, I recommend ditching your blankets and all but one pillow to minimize the risk.

  • LO sleeps with DH and I. We sleep far enough apart in the bad that this works. I put her in between us, facing away from me, with my arm over her stomach and my other arm under my pillow. I tuck the blanket under my arm that is over her so it can't go over her face, and keep my pillow away from her face as well. It works really well for us!

  • I mean sharing a bed with us, I saw those co sleepers that u can put in your bed but I don't know if its worth it. I don't move at all when I sleep but my husband does toss and turn...I'm debating bringing our PnP upstairs so he can be in my room and I can sleep in my bed but then if hes downstairs he'll only have the bouncy to sit in and I won't have a changing station downstairs either. Im thinking it's worth it though..like I said I miss my bed!

  • my dd wont sleep alone yet so our cosleeper is a storage space. we keep her bouncer on it cause shell sleep there sometimes. (excuse my poor typing, cradling a sleeping/nursing baby) so she sleeps in the bed. my pillow is just barely under my head and my blanket is at my waist. her head rests on the crook of my arm. ive never once had a scare of hurting her in away. oh, and we either sleep in the middle of the bed or i have her between meand the cosleeper and that would act as a bed rail if she rolled
