TTC After a Loss

This ever happen to anyone? And update!

Hello Ladies,

It has been a crazy last couple months! A little update- with all the testing the only thing that came back was a high TSH. Im on synthroid and getting my levels checked every few weeks and its coming down nicely! HSG was negative as well. The doc prescribed me the vaginal progesterone cream to take from ovulation to my cycle (praying that one doesnt start when we start trying again) and as aspirin every day!

I started school again for my Nurse Practitioner so Ive been so consumed and busy with work and school I don't have much free time to come on here! Ive read a lot of posts and tried to get some updates on all of you as well. It makes me sad to see how many of us there are but glad we all have eachother!!

So here is my issue..... 16 days ago I had a period. This week I was to be ovulating and the doc said we could try if we felt ready. I started having the usual back pain and ovulation pain yesterday and it kept getting stronger throughout the day but thought nothing of it. As I was at my parents visitng I felt leaking coming out and was like hm it must be getting close. When I came home it was blood!!! I was freaked!!! I called my doctor this morning and he asked if I ever had breakthrough bleeding like this before and I said NO, NEVER! He told me to take a test- it was negative, and said to just wait it out and see what happens with my next cycle.

Has this happened to anyone?? Im kinda freaked out and bummed Ive had now 2 periods this month. Im not on a 28 day cycle but like a 33-35 and do OPK's. Any advice or experience would be much appreciated! Thanks ladies!

  • Ive heard of ovulation spotting before.  But from what youre describing it sounds like more than spotting.  Has it stopped?  good luck at nursing school
  • This hasn't happened to me but cycles can be pretty wonky after m/c.

it may just be a fluke... id be concerned if it happened again though.

  • Was it just a bit of blood once Today or is It heavy & constant ? Just because you haven't had breakthrough bleeding before doesn't mean you won't ever. Maybe this follie is extra big? Did you have other signs of ovulation such as fertile CM?

Eta: saw your response - didn't load before. I've seen lots of charts where women have like random 16 day cycles, especially after a loss.

  • No its constant. Constantly having to change you know what! Like an actual cycle. I know its not uncommon just havent had it before and the doc said the same thing-if it happens again to let him know. I just bought some more OPk's but now I dont know when to start testing. Do I count this as a new cycle??

No really big signs of O no...but they usually come like a day or 2 before and I was supposed to O Friday and now I wouldnt be able to tell.

Hi Jess. I will preface this by saying that I'm having a pretty rough day and that I don't know what VQ meant exactly by her response. With that being said, though...

I know we've exchanged (perhaps somewhat tense) replies on this board in the past. I understand that you're a nurse and in school and work long hours. However, in looking at your post history, you've started four threads on TTCAL in the past three months, all of which involve you asking questions about yourself or venting a bit. Other than those four threads, you've not posted on TTCAL to offer support to other women or to get to know us. I know that we all need support, and I in no way am trying to minimize the pain you've endured--I am truly so sorry for your losses. However, I get frustrated when you write things like "an update!" in your post title, because I don't know what I'm being updated on because you haven't posted at all in nearly a month.

I guess all I'm saying is that this board is about getting and GIVING support. Given that you've never posted on someone else's thread, I feel like you're not really practicing the second half of that equation.

As I said, I'm having a tough day, so I apologize if this comes off as snarky. Honestly, you seem like a really sweet person and someone who would be an asset to this community--but I hope you'll really consider getting AND giving support in future rather than just the former.

    ETA: typo

    All of this.

Rosie, you get a gold (or tin foil??) star for sticking up for us and compassion.

Nursing school stinks is right! I am just about to finish my masters in nursing.. It is better! More interesting but definitely more difficult as well! As far as your original question... I have had a crazy cycle but never any bleeding in between.
