how big is a car seat box?

Random question: I need to go buy a car seat and was planning on just getting one at BRU and taking it home on the bus. That would mean me carrying it home at least a few blocks. Do you think that it will be too big to carry with the belly? DH will be sooo thrilled if I make him go with me on Saturday so he can carry it.

they're pretty big. it didn't even really fit in a target cart for a regular snugride. a convertible carseat box is HUGE!

The boxes are pretty bulky and are not very easy to carry. I wouldn't recommend taking it home on the bus and carrying it a few blocks.

They are pretty heavy too. Mine wouldn't fit in the front or back seats of the car I had so I had to take it out and put the flattened box in the back. I got plenty of looks with the carseat in the front forward facing even while empty.

It's too big and too heavy for you to do that. You would be better off ordering one online and maybe try to get free shipping so it can be delivered.

Definitely try to get it delivered. I think the ones I was looking at weigh b/c 18 and 20 lbs each, and the box our first one came in had no handles -- very awkward to hold!!! Target offers free shipping for orders over $50, and BRU has it for orders over $100.

Definitely too big for you to carry. Ask your H to go with you so he can carry it.

I'm curious but do you have to have a car seat to leave the hospital with the baby? I know some places require that.

^^ Yes. They'll check before you leave to make sure you have one and that it's properly installed.

Definitely too big to take it on the bus alone. The one I ordered online through Target got to my house in 2-3 days. It was really quick.

Yes. We don't have a car because we live in a big city and don't need one. But you have to have a car seat to leave the hospital. DH wanted to take the baby home from the hospital on the bus! I was like "do what you want-- I am taking a taxi!" But yeah, I'm researching on how to install it properly and hopefully our cab driver will have a clue about that as well.
