The last time I called to inquire about fertility treatments I was completely shocked at the negativity on the other end of the phone. I simply called to inquire and she said "Do you know how much it will cost? Because it is a lot. And your dh HAS to be here at the appointment and do an SA or we will not see you.."

I ended up saying I would call back but after dh said he was not interested in any of THAT I of course did not.

Now I have the green light with dh and I am scared to call!

You can do this, you can do this, you can do this! It is the best way to find out the "WHY" for your IF issues. If you have the green light from DH you should take advantage of it before he changes his mind!!

Wow that sounds super rude and I wouldn't want to call them again either. Are you using the same clinic or a different one? Its stressful enough without that kind of negativity. I hope you can find someone else who you are comfortable with and of course good luck!

Just do it! I felt much better after making my appointment. I was pleasantly surprised by the demeanor of the scheduler. I told her matter of factly that my PCP recommended setting an appointment with Dr. C since I am nearly 39 and we are on our 9th cycle of trying. I told her I have been charting and she said to bring printouts with me and said it was great that I was doing them. I was told to plan on a 30 minute meeting with the doc. Now, the 24th can't get here soon enough!

Hang in there, llama! For what it's worth, I find my interactions with anyone in the office but my doctor to be really crappy (and negative), whereas my doctor is simply a delight! Keep your eye on the prize!

Good luck! Hopefully you can find someone else to call or perhaps the person was having a bad day or has moved on to another vocation! Definitely don't let that experience stop you though.

Thanks all for the support and kind words. I am a little extra emotional today (tears won't stop as I type) because my very good friend who was TTC with me (not as long) just had her baby girl this morning. I am happy for her but can't help but think that in the time I have been TTC, she got married, got pg and HAD a baby..while I still am trying.

Anyway.....

I made the call! The appointment setter was actually nice and informative! I have a day off on the 25th but of course that day is booked so I made the appt for June 1st but am going to keep calling to see if they have any cancellations for the 25th. AND dh does not have to go with me! The last time I called the evil woman said he HAD to be there or they would not help me. This time they said they just need him to fill out a questionaire! WOO HOO! So my plan is to go by myself and get a plan of action, bring home a collection cup for his SA and get it done at home. Hopefully it will all be that easy!

Go Llama! So proud of you for taking this step! And it is that easy! I went to my first appointment by myself and came home with a sample cup for DH. He brought the sample in and had to have a blood sample taken but that was the extent of it for him. Good luck!!!

Hopefully your RE will be able to get to the bottom of things with a quick resolution. I wish it was as easy as "your baby making switch is off, let's reset it".

I told dh and he actually participated in the conversation. He asked about (and complained about!) cost and agreed with WHY I want to go get checked out. Everything is coming together..It's a good day!

Oh Llama, if you could see me, I'm doing the happy Snoopy dance for you! I'm so excited for you-- it must feel fantastic to feel like you're taking a giant step forward (especially with DH) when for so long you were kind of in a holding pattern.

I'm glad, too, that the scheduler was more positive this time-- I love when people try to assume I can't pay for anything. I love to tell them something like, "Really? I've found nothing yet that is too expensive for my level of income because I'm kind of loaded. What kind of car do YOU drive?" (And then I have to hope they don't see me drive up in my old Subaru.)

Anyhow-- PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep us informed with how things go!

I feel so good about having my appt. And taking this month off from temping has been great! I feel no pressure to think about every little symptom this month knowing that I am just a few weeks away from getting some real answers. It's such a good feeling!

llama - YAY! I hope DH decides to go with you even though he doesn't NEED to. That way he'll feel a bit more involved, and more aware of what needs to happen and he can answer his own questions, but knowing how difficult this has been just to get him to agree to it at all...So exciting! I hope you get answers, and that whatever has been in your way is easily identified and corrected!
