Just wondering if anyone else is in my boat, and if you know what antibiotic your doctor will be ordering for you. Last time I was in, my OB said they were "researching options."

I was positive my last pregnancy and I am allergic to penicillin. I was just given a different antibiotic... I do not remember the name of it though off hand. I will have to go and look at my paper work.
I am. For my first pregnancy, they gave me clindamycin, which was a disaster. I was vomiting/diarrhea the entire labor. Now, the standard drug my practice uses in place of penicillin is azithromycin. I would tell them you are concerned about digestive issues if they suggest clindamycin!

Ok my paper work does not say what antibiotic I was given however according to the CDC website for those that are allergic to penicillin clindamycin and erythromycin can be used but should be tested for susceptibility and if those are not an option then Vancomycin can be used.
I ended up not being GBS+ but I'd only been swabbed the day before DD was born so I got antibiotics to be on the safe side. I'm allergic to penicillin and amoxicillin, so I got clindamycin and had no issues with it.
I'm allergic to penicillin and brought it up to my OB at the beginning of my pregnancy. She said they'd use Erythromycin or Clindamycin if I ended up positive. My body doesn't tolerate Erythromycin very well since it kills the good bacteria in your intestines, and that was NOT fun. The side effects of Clindamycin include yeast infections. That at least I can (and do) counter by eating TONS of Greek yogurt. I ended up being negative, but I wanted to let you know there ARE alternatives.
Sounds like I need to get back to taking a probiotic supplement consistently so that regardless of what they give me, I will have some protection against yeast infections and digestive upsets.
